New Battle.net site is live
The URL may include the word "beta," but the new Battle.net site is live and seems to be fully functional. Some changes we've noticed at first glance are:
We don't know as of yet when the old Battle.net site will be phased out, but we'll keep you posted.
- Complete change to the interface and navigation.
- You can check a box to stay logged in.
- It gives the status of their franchises.
We don't know as of yet when the old Battle.net site will be phased out, but we'll keep you posted.

I'd love to check out the new features, but I just got an email saying my account's password was changed... without my knowing.
A hack is hack, I wouldn't mind but I haven't played WoW in over a month and I don't even have WoW installed on my current laptop nor have I used any one battle.net's online services...
Oh well, ticket submited, the new site sounds promising.

The "your password was changed" e-mail is a pretty common phishing scheme. Check the header and see if it was mailed through Hotmail (they ALL seem to be mailed through Hotmail) before getting too worried.

Mouseover any links in the email, it's pretty easy to tell if the site is legit when you do that
Jamie Jul 15th 2010 2:35PM
Indeed, but you see my password WAS changed. I went to the official site to log in, not clicking on the link given in the email.
But like I say, I've submitted a support ticket now as has my girlfriend in game, as our guild bank on our "chat channel with a bank" guild, that should get the items & money back at least.

Regarding the fishing scams, most of the ones I've gotten in the mail in the last 2 months seem to originate from the sohu( dot )com domain.
Don't forget to check originals, show sender, etc…

I really hope they put a little more stuff on the WoW page. The SCII is super pimp, but WoW has like 3 or 4 buttons.
The site looks amazing, though. It makes me think that something big will happen when SCII finally ships.

Hell. It's about time.

This new design looks extremely weak in comparison to the previous edition. The old design was rich and graphically delicious, with most of the features easily accessible in obvious areas. This one looks like some Web 2.0 hype put out by a recent web design grad. Centered text paragraphs? Really?

I like it!

same!

Looks pretty dull and boring to me.

Something else that's missing is the Blizzard Store. Not saying I bought a "bunch" of stuff from there, but it's conspicuously absent.
Daffybint Jul 15th 2010 2:28PM
Oh and once again for us forgotten EU players you can go to http://beta-eu.battle.net to get the same access. Thanks again wow.com for covering all your bases and supporting the whole community.
Chrisamcnicholas Jul 15th 2010 3:18PM
I forget, where is wow.com based out of?
talkingmike Jul 15th 2010 3:21PM
It was probably a simply oversight. Don't get your panties in a wad.
Oh sorry, your "knickers."
Arednel Jul 15th 2010 3:21PM
@Chrisamcnicholas
I forget, does this site specifically say that is US only? Is WoW US only? no, then we should at least have some things said about us occasionally.
Chrisamcnicholas Jul 15th 2010 3:24PM
@arednel
Just saying the game and this website are both based out of the united states. The first though when posting isn't going to be "wonder if there's a European site". Sorry if that offends you.
begedinnikola Jul 15th 2010 3:27PM
"we should at least have some things said about us occasionally."
They do say stuff about us occasionally. They mention european guilds when there's a world first!
Oh yes i did :P
Drakkenfyre Jul 15th 2010 3:44PM
When a European game site mentions America on a regular basis, you will have justification to complain here.
European GM's are mentioned all the time. European forums are mentioned all the time. The (lack of) or (Europe-only) contests are mentioned, too. Just because they don't mention the new Battle.net for Europe on a primarily American website doesn't mean you can complain about it.
Robin Torres Jul 15th 2010 5:36PM
I have a question for you, Daffybint, or any other reader in Europe. If you go to the link that I put in the post, does it tell you that it's for the North American region in the upper right corner? Does it ask you to click and change it if that's not your region?
It did on my screen, which is why I thought that link would work for everyone who was also able to read the English on WoW.com. But I admit that coming from a different country, it may not show up. So could someone from Europe tell me if that box is there for them as well?
