Call for Submissions: 3 fresh ideas for world PvP events

WoW.com is accepting article submissions describing three fresh ideas for organized world PvP events. Submissions should be between 750 and 1,000 words. We will not accept articles submitted under player names or pen names; please use your real name and email. Artwork is not mandatory, but any you choose to include must be your own work or from creative commons.
Unfortunately, the Seed program currently only allows us to accept submissions from individuals living in the United States. As much as we would love to make Seed available internationally, Seed.com accounts currently are not supported by non-US IP addresses; it really is as simple as that. We hope the platform will be closer to readiness for international access later this year. Check www.seed.com or the Seed blog for updates.
Ready to submit? Read up about our guest post program, then sign up for Seed and submit your article here. (You won't see the article page unless you have a Seed account.) We'll accept submissions for this assignment until 11:59 p.m. EST on Thurs., July 22. Good luck and good writing!

Best world PVP I participated in was a cross-faction 'battle for Ashenvale'. The rules were followed, the turnout was great, and the manhunt was awesome. I think there's some videos on youtube of it...

I was one of the 40 Paladins Vs. 40 Shamans in that video on Youtube it was definitely the most fun.

That was completely epic

First WG I got into. I got addicted. But then I noticed that my faction didn't like PvP, so I stopped. :(

If you want an idea for a PVP event, go Old World. Stuff like Silithus and EPL is barely visited or used and it's almost endless.

Starts out as a timed vs 5 man...5 ally 5 horde....pve for a boss or so then major 5v5 PVP encounter.. and for an added twist after pvp encounter both teams must unite to fight last boss.

Make some zones conquerable by guilds and flag other guilds as hostile in those zones, regardless of faction.

That is an amazing idea! I think I may also draw a lot of players to pvping. Would be nice to see blizzard do that and also add in a reward system to give a reason to occupy the area, like in wg and halaa. They could even make it mostly vaniety items and not have to create much more content.

It wasnt set up by me but when we did it it was tons of fun

I've had lot's of fun in Nagrand with the battle of Halaa. I liked the spontaneous effort it took to get a raid going and then winning if all went well.

Halaa was great. Something like that should be reimplenmented

Every single BG, and also, every single world PvP event, always has some sort of goal....capture the flag, control an area, etc. The PvP combat always seemed...secondary. ESPECIALLY in AV. Most people have come to recognize AV as more of a PvE event. You can play an entire game to completion and never see another player from the opposing faction.
Put all that objective shit aside and make a Deathmatch BG. The object is purely to kill. And kill. And kill. Pure, unstoppable PvP. No flags, no towers, no general.

THIS!!!!!
Only problems are stealthed rogues/ druids hiding the whole time, and that one tank with 3 pocket healers and next to impossible to kill. Other than that... Best BG idea EVAR

That's actually an interesting idea. Especially given the increased tensions between the Alliance and the Horde, and the almost full-out declaration of war.
And Ty: simplest way to do that would be to have a sort of anti-Tenacity: every 10 seconds you go without dying, you get a stacking debuff that reduces healing received by 1% and increases damage taken by 1%. All those numbers came out of my lower intestine, but something along those lines would be great. Also, if stealthers are just hiding in the corner sucking their security blanket, then they're not racking up kills, then are they? ;)

Isn't that called arena?

Rather than take the time to draft a SEED article just to be rejected, for what I can only guess is the crime of stepping on some ganking toes, I'll briefly cover my idea for world PvP.
HONOR... not honor points, but honest-to-goodness honorable combat. To quote Jejin: ...The RULES were followed, the turnout was great, and the manhunt was awesome....{emphasis mine}
What is missing from world PvP is rules of engagement. No matter what awesomeness is implemented, it will fail miserably unless the gankers/griefers are dealt with completely.

Maybe it is not fresh for the WoW Universe, but it can be for the players born in the postBG's era. It call it the Battle for Hillsbrad Foothills. A massive on-line war between character from Southshore (Alliance) and Tarren Mill (Horde). It will be a veritable wall of Alliance charging the town Tarren Mill (Horde), to retake if for the Humans from the Forsaken, with another wall of Horde rushing forward to Southshore (Alliance).
And quoting Slaytanic: "The object is purely to kill. And kill. And kill."
KJP Jul 16th 2010 7:56PM
Technically, the Zombie Invasion was a World PvP event, right?
stevo Jul 16th 2010 8:30PM
You should make an article called, "Flying mounts and the death of world PVP"
Catbwoy Jul 17th 2010 12:00AM
Why? I don't think I understand your comment.
