Cataclysm Beta: Pets' new Move To command

In PvP, this new option will create a whole new level of positioning and feinting using one's pet. If the enemy team is training your pet, you can tell it to run behind a pillar. In PvE, you'll be able to guide your pet out of fire, set it to a more appropriate position or otherwise make it act like a beast that obeys your commands. It's going to be pretty awesome; I'm likely to spend my first few hours learning a bunch of stupid pet tricks.
Right now, the actual icon for the Move To command is missing, but the button still works.
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm will destroy Azeroth as we know it. Nothing will be the same. In WoW.com's Guide to Cataclysm, you can find out everything you need to know about WoW's third expansion. From goblins and worgens to mastery and guild changes, it's all there for your cataclysmic enjoyment.Filed under: Cataclysm

I wonder if it also works with the Aggressive option.
Stand over there, and attack the first mob that you see. Would be useful for spawning-add type of fight in lower level dungeons.

Does the current Stay command work with Aggressive? If it does, I imagine Move To will as well.
Draelan Jul 16th 2010 2:22PM
Yes, Aggressive does work with Stay. Basically, it'll cause your pet to attack anything within the aggro radius of where you told it to stay. If it runs out of things to attack, it runs back to where you placed it and waits for something to wander into its aggro radius again.
I used this on Ahune, actually, to get my pet to attack adds without going after the boss himself while he was surfaced. (Since that just results in a dead pet.)

Big Red Kitty has been using this feature in his videos for a while now. You can see it in action: http://www.bigredkitty.net/2010/07/16/cataclysm-beta-hunter-guide-movie-the-stable/
Mild spoilers in that video, it shows a new pet and a part of the Hyjal zone.
Eric Jul 16th 2010 1:23PM
That recent video isn't even the first he shows it off in. Granted I dont know which one is, but it's an earlier less spoiler filled video.

Two thoughts:
1) That guy's voice is either hilarious or annoying. I can't figure out which.
2) I want a monkey.

BRK reported about this on July 7th http://www.youtube.com/user/bigredkitty#p/u/5/Rl4377YNv-8
Sumanai Jul 16th 2010 2:13PM
@Qot: definitely hilarious. :D
just check his other videos.

Yep. Frostheim has also had this ability featured on the Warcraft Hunters Union for a bit now.

I find it slightly hilarious that it's just being posted by Wow.com, and being credited to Boubouille when their own hunter columnist has obviously known about it for at least a week. XD

Hmm.. I can see hunters using stealthy kitties for some "gank" fun :P
Poof Surprise!!!
Grovinofdarkhour Jul 16th 2010 1:36PM
We've been doing that forever; but with this, we'll no longer have to actually walk over to the spot we want the cat to be, tell it to Stay, and then move away. It'll be a lot easier to put a stealthed cat within striking distance without actually entering the enemy's field of vision ourselves.

Eyes of the beast+stay? This is just eyes of the beast without have to cast or lose control.
Duulket Jul 16th 2010 1:10PM
That will be a big help.
epicboyz Jul 16th 2010 1:11PM
well its about time!
Rictus Jul 16th 2010 4:08PM
Give them a break, it was only five years ago that Masterminds could position their pets in City of Villains. ;)
THE WICKER MAN (BWF) (GT: Dalek Prime) Jul 16th 2010 1:14PM
That pet's name could be blurred out a bit more!
Derrek Jul 16th 2010 1:21PM
This will be awesome.
Impsy will finally stand where I want him.
Terrorizing new players with an "aggressive" felguard will be sweet.
Not to mention all the RP opportunities this opens up. Pets will finally be their own distinct entity. No more "/me 's pet walks over to %t and wags his tail." while said pet stubbornly stands still.

A time this would've been useful would have been when my guild at the time of Ulduar had a warlock tank hard mode Council with his voidwalker.
I forgot the name but it was the big one that occasionally hit real hard, and it was a pain for him to have the void move out of the blue rune on the floor.

I think I like this option:
/Hunter points pet command target reticle over pie and cake
/stealthy pet prowls into Dalran inn kitchen, swipes cake and pie, prowls back to hunter
/hunter and pet runs away with prizes
/Cook confused and angered at missing desserts
"Who stole the pie and cake??????"
/Looks at Anne Stickney and Alex Ziebart curiously
Neil Jul 16th 2010 2:02PM
One question, though?
What does the hunter want with the dirty, stinkin' cake?
