The Queue: Dudebro

Bro. Bro. You gotta check out the 'Clysm, bro. You in the 'Clysm beta? I heard Orgrimmar got a hella sweet new bar. Can you say "shots," bro? Say it, bro. Bro. Brorgrimmar. Bromeo. Brosef Stalin. Broseidon, king of the brocean.
Alex asked:
"Regarding the Pirates rep grind (killing Booty Bay guards): I plan to be exalted with Pirates AND Booty Bay at the same time (by freeing Knot in Dire Maul countless of times). Will new Goblin quests in Cata will hurt my Pirates rep?"
The playable goblins are their own faction, not the Steamwheedle Cartel. Their quests shouldn't affect your rep with either the Bloodsail Buccaneers or the Steamwheedle Cartel. But changes to Stranglethorn Vale and the rest of the world might. I'd get your kicks in now.
Transrelativity asked:
"What's the status of Rivendare's deathcharger, the Wintersaber/Venomhide, the ZG mounts, and the Argent Tourney in the beta? Has anything changed with them? I imagine there've been changes to Stratholme at least..."
I can't say what's up with the ZG, Wintersaber or Argent Tournament mounts just yet, but I know for a fact that Baron Rivendare is gone from Stratholme as of this latest beta build. Whether this means his deathcharger is gone forever still remains to be seen. He does have a replacement ...
cjivan asked:
"Speaking of goblin and worgen mounts, and whether you can get them if you're not one of those races if you reach exalted with them... Are there any plans on adding both races to the Argent Tournament? I found that an easy way to get rep with each race."
There are currently no plans to add Gilneas or Bilgewater Cartel representatives to the Argent Tournament.
Richard asked:
"With all the new watery areas in the zones, will there be some kind of mounts or swim enhancements to get around (especially in the flooded shimmering flats) or are we expected to do tons more swimming?"
At least in Vashj'ir, you get a swim speed buff almost immediately upon entering the zone, and you also gain the ability to run on the sea floor. Later, you get a water mount that moves at 280% speed.
It's unlikely we'll see these privileges expanded to other zones, because there just isn't enough water to justify it. Vashj'ir is built from the ground up to be a very 3-D zone.
Tyrannus asked:
"Whatever happened to Deathwing Scar, the supposed entrance to Deepholm, 'cause making the entrance to Deepholm in the Maelstrom doesn't make sense. The Maelstrom already caused one cataclysm, its like a hole in the wall, how does Deathwing cause a new cataclysm stepping through an 'already there' hole?"
Deathwing essentially broke through the ceiling of Deepholm and busted out of an already existing vortex of chaotic energies -- that is, the Maelstrom. The only reason why you can get to Deepholm from there is because of Deathwing. The Earthen Ring is currently doing its best to keep the rift open so they can send more people down there to fix the World Pillar, which was shattered when Deathwing broke through.
Bonksy asked:
"What are the languages of player worgen and goblins?"
The playable goblins are able to speak goblin and orcish. Worgen speak common and worgen. The worgen language isn't yet implemented.

One assumes that the curse imbues them with more than just the body of a worgen. Assuming the change isn't merely physical, it makes perfect sense that they'd also gain an understanding of the worgen language, which is probably more closely related to Darnassian than to Common if I understand the lore behind the worgen right...

Nawaf says: [Worgen] Grrrr! Arf! Arf! Aw-aw-awoooo! *wags tail*

You know the thing where you complete a quest, and you can turn it in right there and get the next quest instead of going back to the quest giver? Does anyone know if that has been implemented for BC and Wrath content?
Kaeri Jul 16th 2010 1:43PM
Right now, it's only implemented for quests that make sense to do that way - for example, in Azshara you're tasked with repairing a shredder and using it to do various tasks, and you turn in the quests and get the new ones by the shredder's radio.

Question:
Over the past few Queues, you've updated us on the status of some of the long term achievements in the game (Loremaster, Explorer, Insane). As a PVP focused player, I'm curious about the Battlemaster achievement. Is it still possible to earn Battlemaster in Cataclysm? And if so, have the requirements for the achievement been changed with the addtion of new BGs and the loss of older ones?

Okay, so about Deathwing busting through Deepholm and into Azeroth via Maelstrom...
We can now blame the Cataclysm on the night elves, as what they did led to the Sundering, which led to the Maelstrom, which led to Deathwing bursting out of the vortex as it was a weak spot.
That's like, what, the 4th or 5th time they managed to screw up Azeroth?
Good job.

Dear The Queue,
Has Blizzard ever given any explanation as to why they can't be bothered to connect the Exodar flightpath to the rest of the world? Auberdine would have made sense, but I hear it's a little late for that, so Rut'theran Village would now be the obvious choice. If a hippogryph can make it from Rut'theran to Gadgetzan without stopping, a little water in the way is absolutely no excuse.
Thanks,
Grovin

It's because Exodar is part of Burning Crusade content. I suppose they don't want a loading screen while you're on a griphon, as Exodar is instanced.
Matchu Jul 16th 2010 12:37PM
Yet all the Blood Elf places can be flown too.
pinteresque Jul 16th 2010 12:39PM
@ furious: if you've ever flown to the ghostlands, you'll notice that the gryphon goes through an instance portal to get there, just (essentially) why the boat from Auberdine goes through a load screen to get to Azuremyst.
bdew Jul 16th 2010 12:40PM
Maybe because having flight paths pass through loading screens is a major PITA for developers.
I know the flight path connecting Tranquilien to LHC was very buggy after it was introduced, making you often go *SPLAT* or leaving you stuck in interdimensional limbo.
Or maybe they just hate space goats :)
Suzaku Jul 16th 2010 7:38PM
All of the Burning Crusade zones (including the draenei and blood elf starting zones) are stored in a seperate map file and have their own world server.
This is why they use the same loading screen as Outland, and why teleporting to those zones from Outland requires no loading screen, while entering them via the Eastern Kingdoms or Kalimdor does.
Cataclysm should offer them a good opportunity to integrate the zones with the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor maps, however it currently seems that won't be the case.

Are there going to be any changes to the Death Knight starting experience? Since the lich king as we all know it is gone.
Matchu Jul 16th 2010 12:37PM
As has been answered many times, the LK isn't gone from the perspective of a new DK.
Artificial Jul 16th 2010 2:13PM
The DK starting area takes place before "present day" as it is. This will remain true in Cataclysm, it'll just relate events that occur many years before present instead of slightly before present. Both the goblin and worgen starting areas also share this feature, starting in pre-cataclysmic time.
Suzaku Jul 16th 2010 7:38PM
The death knight starting zone is set entirely before the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, and always has been. When Cataclysm comes out, the death knight starting zone will still be set before the Wrath of the Lich King expansion.

Has Northrend been affected by the Cataclysm at all, or did it escape any damage because of how far north it is?
Grovinofdarkhour Jul 16th 2010 1:27PM
Northrend has been deeply affected by the Cataclysm. It wants to know where everybody's gone, what it did wrong to be ignored like this, and quite frankly, could use a little cuddling.
