My guild uses a need/greed system with one need roll per night. To encourage more participation (and help those who roll badly) we have a weekly reset "DKP" bonus for each raid night you attend (15 per night currently for 30 total) and unspent weekly "DKP" gets put towards getting a 100 "DKP" ticket.

It allows the ultra-casuals in our guild to come raid occasionally and still have a good chance of loot, and allows our regular raiders to not miss out on that one murphy item.
