Our guild uses DPSK (Double-position Suicide Kings).
When initially switching from a casual /roll system, we considered SK. SK works great if everyone is bidding their positions often. SK has problems when people pass on minor upgrades because they're afraid to lose their top position.
With DPSK, each raider has 2 positions on the same list, they can bid either position, all bids are public, and they can change their bid to their higher bid if their low bid is beaten.
It's worked out great so far. People bid their low positions for minor upgrades, while saving their higher position for those BiS items.
