What is with those fake and bake prostitutes in the screenshot? Did they get lost on the way to the Jersey Shore house? o.O
Akussa Jul 20th 2010 2:13PM
I don't know but the one on the left looks like she's sticking her fingers somewhere fingers shouldn't be stuck...

Reminds me of those ads for that game with the tagline "Your Goddess Awaits". They featured the light and dark godesses from the game, but the dark one looked like she was bored and forgot she was on camera. It wasn't very erotic, since she had such a bored look on her face. I'm not sure what they were going for, exactly.

Nothing like a good old reminder that WoW really isn't "that" bad with armor designs for women.
Gawd. I don't think I'd ever play an MMO that looks like that.
Hurbster Jul 20th 2010 2:26PM
Ahhh, tanning courtesy of Hulk Hogan, I see.
Honestly I would not be surprised if Tera introduced 'innovative' one handed gameoplay just for the 13 year old boys this is obviously targeted at.
Patton Jul 20th 2010 2:26PM
Their armor seems entirely unpractical.

"I don't know but the one on the left looks like she's sticking her fingers somewhere fingers shouldn't be stuck..."
Actually it looks like she's grabbing her weapon and scratching her thigh.

they got bored in Eversong Woods

Those are TERA Castanic females, designed to appeal to adolescent Korean boys (and those who never developed past adolescence). Don't hate them just because they look exactly like San Fernando Valley "actresses" who have their legal ages registered at an address in Chatsworth and require weekly HIV screenings... they're designed to look that way. TERA is a Korean MMO being "culturally ported" to a US audience. Basically by adding PVE quests and a storyline more complex than Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
(And if you think those toons are gratuitous T&A, you should see the High Elf females.)
There are other races in the game, and most of them aren't teenage male fantasy-bait, but those are the ones that generate site-clicks for the trade blogs... If you dig around their site a bit, the game is visually stunning in less provocative ways, as well.

/facepalm
Yeah, I'm also one of those people who gets annoyed by the female armor models in Wow sometimes. However I see THIS and yeah, feel better. ;-p Even belly exposed plate is nowhere near THIS stupid!
If this is Korean in origin as WELL as Aion... wow. /shudder
Alex Ziebart Jul 20th 2010 4:17PM
I'll show off a less-skimpy shot next week.
Glaras Jul 20th 2010 6:07PM
@Alex: Suuuure you will. :D
I'm not surprised that people fixate on this. I'm also not surprised that the usual accusations fly from the easily-offended. It's part of the culture, I suppose.
Myself, I'd really like to know how close the game is to play-ready. I'd like to know more about their game mechanics, how their quest engine works, if they have raids and if so, how they're arranged.
I'd really like to know if they plan on supporting Macs.
After that, I'd be concerned about graphics. Oh, and btw, if their females wore something that looked like actual body armor, you might not even know they *were* female.
uncaringbear Jul 20th 2010 7:45PM
Meh, another Korean MMO with fancy graphics, unimaginative models and lifeless mannequin-like characters.
Lars Petersson Jul 20th 2010 2:16PM
I know Felicia Day has many other excellent qualities, but whenever I see a picture like that I can't help but be amazed again at how gorgeous she is...
And I am getting increasingly excited about SW:ToR. Whether it will be something I play just for the free month (W:AR) or drop after a week or two (AoC) remains to be seen.
But either way, I'm looking forwards to it.
And Lego Universe :-D
Vogie Jul 20th 2010 3:11PM
Same here. I'm happily married, but every time her picture pops up unannounced... there's a little /swoon going on.
wutsconflag Jul 20th 2010 2:43PM
Ah, the chainmail bikini. Designed to provide near invulnerability, while showing off as much as possible...
Zero456 Jul 20th 2010 2:47PM
Hey now, a woman's gotta look good while taking care of internet dragons! Just don't try video game physics in real life.
Exodus Jul 20th 2010 2:51PM
Hey, at least its not 2 guys in those same outfits.
or it could be those damn japanese characters, that have big eyes and extremely large breasts wearing those silly schoolgirl uniforms.
Nina Katarina Jul 20th 2010 3:05PM
Let me tell you, you can get some nasty and odd-shaped sunburns from a chainmail bikini.
Not, er, that I'd know about that sort of thing from personal experience. Nope, never happened, that was another century, evil twin, infinite dragonflight!
biglou Jul 20th 2010 2:54PM
Holy crap those chicks are HAWT!
