Cataclysm Beta: New sound clips for Thrall, Vol'Jin, Nefarian

The latest Cataclysm beta build has dropped and there are some massive spoilers with some of the sound files that have been uncovered. I'm keeping the files themselves after the break for those of you who want to avoid any lore leaks.
First is a talk between two leaders of the Horde on the direction things have been going. The second is from an upcoming raid boss taunting the players as well as revealing his greatest triumph. Yeah, that's vague, but I'm trying to leave spoilers out from before break.

"The world itself calls for my aid"
[Thrall answers the phone]
Thrall: Warchief here.
World: Hey Thrall, I need your aid. I'm moving and I need you to help me move my things..
Thrall: But.. what about my faction? What about the Horde?
World: I don't know, give it to somebody else in the mean time.
Vol'jin: The spirits tell me you're going to leave the Horde in the care of somebody, need my help?
Thrall: Na man, you're unimportant until the expansion. Hey Garrosh!
Garrosh: Yeah?
Thrall: Stop sharpening your axes for a moment, want to lead the Horde?
Garrosh: Sure, why not? What can go wrong?

First time Comment, so please, be gentle.
I love it! Theres just one thing. I love Chris Metzen and his voice and all, but he does SO MANY of them. It speaks to his talent and he has a great voice, but the voices (Nef, Thrall, Rag, Algalon, The Saurfangs) are starting to sound the same. There has to be some other voice actors out there with some desire to be a part of this title.

Are they not working for anyone else? I'm using Chrome and it says, "Missing Plug-In".
I would really enjoy hearing these, so any help would definitely be appreciated :D

The links worked just fine for me and I use Chrome. These make me wanna roll a horde to see that side of things.

I'm very confused. I thought Thrall wanted the Horde and Alliance to get along and come to amiable terms! His words sound like a bit of a retcon.
Vol'jin is awesome, by the way. So nice to hear his voice and some specific dialogue. And the part about "heroes from Northrend?" Awesome. It reminds us that not just the players are part of the horde, there are civilians and those not fighting everywhere that are affected.

It sounds like a retcon because it is a retcon. With Thrall, his peace-seeking ways etc. they took the Horde down a path that would have led to peace, something they don't want. But I liked it...
They had to find some ways to put WAR back in the game and decided to do it this way.
Personally, I don't like it. It seems very forced, Thrall just abandoning everything he worked for, waiting for Garrosh to mess it all up. I get it that he has to go save the world, he is the world's foremost shaman. But I can't believe he wouldn't have decided to make Cairne, Vol'Jin or Saurfang Warchief. Or even install a ruling council consisting of the leaders of each race. That chance should have worked well vor pretty much every race other than maybe orc, depends how much they are used to the single Warchief position.
"Love" it also how they pretty much said how they don't care about player opinions, "heroes from Northrend" = Players. Our opinion doesn't matter, the opinion they ascribe to a faceless mass of "the people" does....
Don't like it, really don't.
At least it seems they are finally letting Garrosh grow up a bit (his comments in Stonetalon about honor and such, taken from Saurfang)..... let's just hope over the course of the expansion he turns into less of a douche. He doesn't have to become just like Thrall, just less like the douchy Garrosh we've seen so far. Damn I hate that guy...
Jabbaprime Jul 21st 2010 2:02AM
Yea indeed it doesn't seem to make sense story wise, since Thrall was against all garrosh's actions and childlike behavior (for example ulduar video) So to just put the least wise, most arrogant character as warcheif seems to be exactly opposite of what Thrall would've wanted. Surfang is a warhero, Voljin is a warhero ><
But oh well it will be fun :D

"" Our opinion doesn't matter, the opinion they ascribe to a faceless mass of "the people" does.... ""
Sometimes you need to make decisions you don't totally agree with to keep your constituents from getting too angry. And lore-wise, players are a minority.
Sidereal Jul 21st 2010 2:24AM
Eh, the thing is that the Horde as a whole doesn't want the peace that Thrall does, and his own desires are impossible as long as the Horde wants the coming conflict.
Sure, Vol'jin and Cairne are mighty and proud leaders, but they haven't done anything of note lately. On the other hand, Garrosh is first and foremost on everyone's minds.
In short, he is the Warchief the Horde needs right now: although I don't see where his sudden sense of honor toward the enemy shown in the Stonetalon scene is coming from, he can be counted on to make the decisions that will probably damage the relationship between Horde and Alliance for generations, but are needed for the Horde and its people to thrive. It's a harsh decision, but it had to be made: Varian has made it clear than he has no interest in a lasting peace with the Horde, and Thrall is stuck with an olive branch in one hand and the Doomhammer in the other.

I think it's a little to premature to call "retcon" here.
Thrall seems to be touching on the will of the masses, something that, as "heroes" of northrend, we probably don't have much contact with. He claims that the people are clamoring for a warlike leader, and I don't doubt it. To all of us players, Thrall's peace-loving ways and Jaina-hugging look and sound good, but to everyone else they may not.
The tensions between races of the Horde and Alliance are deep-seated, intense, and often quite violent (especially that of the orcs and humans)... it comes as no surprise to me that half-a-dozen years under Thrall's diplomatic ways haven't changed the mindset of most people.
In the end, Thrall is giving the people what they want, even if they don't know what they're getting into. They want Garrosh, let them have him, Thrall has bigger things to worry about.
I guess I fail to see where the retcon is here. Thrall is still acting selflessly and for the greater good (of not just his people), Garrosh is still a (maybe slightly wiser) war-monger, the people of the Horde are still in love with war and war heroes and don't mind killing people that hate them. If anything, nothing has changed... at all.
If you ask me, Thrall knows exactly what he's doing by leaving the Horde with Garrosh. I guess he's assuming everyone (Garrosh included) will learn from their mistakes.
