The Queue: S'more

Once upon a time, Hawaiian pizza was all the rage here at The Queue. Well ... okay, I won't lie, Hawaiian pizza is still all the rage here at The Queue, but now we have dessert, too. I've been inspired by Streetza Pizza, a local food truck here in Milwaukee, and will be making s'mores pizza this evening. I'll report back on how it goes.
FluffedMojo asked:
"Are AoE pulls gone in favor of legitimate strategy in 5-mans?"
I assume when you say "strategy" you mean crowd control. That's a hard question to answer right now for a couple of reasons. We haven't seen any level cap heroics in the beta yet, only leveling content. The leveling instances need to be tuned low so people of varying gear levels can do them successfully. If you have any Wrath of the Lich King raid gear, you're overgeared for the instances. If you have any tier 9 from triumph emblems, you're overgeared for the instances. Just about any group you will get for available content, most of the group members will be overgeared. That's not a great environment to figure out whether crowd control will be necessary or not.
So far, speaking only from my personal experience, most groups will not need crowd control in leveling content. If anybody needs to use more strategy in these groups it will be the tank, because knowing your cooldowns makes using any sort of crowd control even more unnecessary. It's much easier for me to use Shield Wall on a pull I know will be challenging than get my PUG to sort out Polymorphs or Saps. That sort of thing might only be possible due to overgearing, so who knows.
TomiToikka asked:
"Has there been any signs of the worgen racial mount yet?"
None. Just about every level 20+ worgen you see in the beta is using a night elf mount temporarily.
Many asked:
"With so much going on with the world leaders these days, what's up with Lor'themar Theron? What is he doing in Cataclysm?"
You know, I have no idea. As far as I know he isn't doing anything at all in Cataclysm. If he is doing anything, it's nothing on the level of the other leaders. He might still be preoccupied with the regeneration of the Sunwell like we saw in the Quel'Delar quest chain and we'll see that culminate at another time outside of the Cataclysm.
flutterbytweets asked:
"Is it true that Death Knights in Cataclysm will start at level 1 instead of level 55?"

Ah, I was going to say, the lighting is all screwed up.

Is there a connection between the trees that grow in Eversong and those that grow in Ruby Sanctum?
Samutz Jul 21st 2010 2:20PM
They're both trees.
I know they're both red, but there are red trees in other areas of WoW too. It's just coincidence. Red just happens to be a common theme for those 2 areas, Blood Elves and Ruby Dragons.
Cyrus Jul 21st 2010 4:50PM
Ruby Sanctum Trees are red because it's home to the Ruby Dragonflight, which are red. The trees in Eversong have red leaves (and orange and so on) because they're deciduous and have lots of carotenoids, like maple trees, and Eversong Woods is perpetually in autumn. Sure, it seems odd, but when was the last time you saw winter snow in Goldshire or Duskshire? But look around at the plants and animals there; they clearly are temperate places, not equatorial. They should have seasons, but in the game it's always somewhere between spring and fall. Likewise, Eversong Woods is always fading, withering, like elves without magic.
Or maybe it's not actually perpetually autumn, maybe it just looks that way stylistically. This is a world where a massive dragon can physically reshape the continents. Who knows?

Noyou: Yes, that's exactly the problem. OL green gems are trash even though they wouldn't have to be if it was not possible to put WOTLK/Cata gems into low level stuff.

Queue question: When, timeline wise, was Light's Hope Chapel built? Had it always been tied to the use of the Argent Dawn?
Samutz Jul 21st 2010 5:09PM
The Argent Dawn was formed from the members of the Scarlet Crusader that weren't insane and left the SC. The SC was formed after Arthas killed Uther and the Silver Hand disbanded.
So I think the chapel was just a normal Lordaeron chapel, with crypts for their dead, before the undead plague and scourge invasion. The AD just moved in later to establish an outpost.

Any chance the barber shop will be updated, and we'll see more hairstyles /colors come Cata? Some races really got the shaft when it came to new options. And even those that didn't....variety is always fun.
...Okay I admit, I just want my draenei shaman to have hot pink hair. >.>
ALSO - Speaking of Draenei - any word on their story , or their starting areas, getting updated at ALL? Wouldn't make sense for them to still be newly crashed refugees at this point. :(
Morbid Jul 21st 2010 2:38PM
I'm hoping for more hair options as well.
I think Blizzard should standardize the number of hair styles that each race gets to choose from in the character creation screen. Go make a human female and look at how many freaking styles they have! Then go make a female troll.
Skarlette Jul 21st 2010 4:08PM
I'm really really really hoping they expand the number of available hairstyles, at least in the barber shops if not at character creation. I've gotten bored with all the female night elf styles, female trolls are very limited (although more faces would be a bigger priority there), and female tauren's choices for hair are pathetic.
Yeah, I'm a huge alt-o-holic, but still...
Pyromelter Jul 21st 2010 5:27PM
The game is filled with discontinuities at this point. You just have to suspend your disbelief and imagine it is back in time. A dranaei waking up from a crash makes about as much sense as does killing Scarlet Commander Mograine for the 900th time in SM (seeing as how that happened a long time ago, AND the scarlets officially moved to northrend).
Jason Jul 21st 2010 2:04PM
Speaking of Death Knights, do Goblins and Worgen have their own "withered" options for skins like the rest of the races do? I sure hope so!
Cephas Jul 21st 2010 3:05PM
Goblin do and Worgen probably will, but the character customization screen for Worgen Death Knights isn't working yet.
Boobah Jul 21st 2010 5:23PM
"their own "withered" options for skins like the rest of the races do?"
Well, aside from the Forsaken. Of course, for them withered comes standard.

Question. Have they increased the basic backpacks size? If not have they stated they are going to? I remember at Blizzcon they said they were going to look at it but nothing since.
Samutz Jul 21st 2010 2:31PM
In the Beta videos, so far the default backpack is still a 16-slot.
N-train Jul 21st 2010 4:03PM
I believe someone asked that on a Dev Chat a while back...
Found it:
Q. Any plans to increase the size of the backpack?
A. Yeah, it's something we discuss a lot. On the other hand, the madness has to end somewhere. I'm not sure I want a 100 slot bag with that much stuff to manage. We'd need to make sure you could easily upgrade the existing backpack; we wouldn't want anyone to manage to just be without any bags.
Drakkenfyre Jul 21st 2010 4:47PM
They have said "we are interested in increases the size of the backpack" since the original game. Don't put too much into that. The real reason they don't increase it substantially is database size. They addressed this once when asked why can't we get bags that are much bigger than we have now. Even adding 1 slot to a bag increases the amount of database space it takes up. Doesn't sound like much, but think if they added 2 slots to the default backpack. That increases every character's bag size in the database by 2. Add that up for every character. There are 11 million players and probably 30 million characters. It would be a huge increase in the database needed.

Question about something that's been bugging me.
Whilst questing in Grizzly Hills, it's strongly hinted at that the Scythe of Elune is located somewhere there, or at least in Northrend. However, during the events of the Worgen starting zone, {SPOILER SPOILER} It's revealed that the Gilneans are in posession of the Scythe.{SPOILER SPOILER} What's up with that?
Boobah Jul 21st 2010 5:27PM
The two known sources of worgen are 1) the Scythe of Elune, lost and last seen in or around Darkshire, and 2) Arugal's magic. What with Arugal's death, that only left one source, whereabouts unknown.
Of course, later you discover that thanks to Arthas and the Blood Princes, for Arugal Shadowfang Keep was only a setback.
