Lots of these voices are starting to sound the same to me. While I like the gravel in his voice and the echo seems appropriate I don't think this voice is big enough or indeed mad enough for Deathwing. When I hear Deathwing's voice I want to be able to know it's him without checking, without wondering if it's someone else.

I don't think his voice is deep or loud enough. It sounds like one of my brothers growling at me through some sort of steel pipe.I was imagining him having a voice that caused bowel-shaking earthquakes of doubt and remorse, that assail me, impale me with monster-truck force.

One that goes the distance? One that goes for speed?

But has the sun has gone down and the moon has come up?As far as I knew, long ago somebody left with the cup.But he's striving and driving and hugging the turns,And thinking of someone for whom he still burns.

Yes I agree Blizzard need to make a real big bad guy with a high pitch voice like Mike Tyson or to a lesser degree Brock Lesnar. It would be comical and strangely more life like.

Cause he's going the distance!

I blame Blizzard spending all their voice acting budget on hiring Tricia Heifer for SC2 for Metzen voicing everyone and their uncle. (No, not really)

Thumbed up for Cake

I personally disagree with the "not mad enough" assessment... Well, not so much disagree as feel that they should take a different approach to it as what you're thinking of. I get the feeling that Deathwings madness isn't the gibbering insane madman deal, but more the remorseless sociopath. Willing to do anything and everything to see his goals fufilled, no matter the cost. When he is winning and in control of the situation, his voice should be deep, confident, unbreaking, powerful. I keep thinking something along the lines of the late, great Orson Welles as Unicron. When things start getting away from his master plan, his insanity starts to show, manifesting in his voice as pure, unbridled rage, his innate savagery taking over his otherwise calm demeanour.

I have to agree; I don't think this sounds Deathwing-y enough. The gravel is good, but they really need someone with a deeper voice. The filters aren't cutting it. He sounds like a giant evil black dragon who's been huffing helium. Blizzard needs to find someone with the deepest voice around and say "OK, now scream into the microphone all growly-like".

In my opinion, Illidan was a desperate madman on the run, exploiting whatever he could muster and more fixated on bigger threats than YOU. The Lich King was a cocky, imposing figure. His memories may be of two very different people, but his current form was its own entity.Voices nailed. To me, Deathwing should be Slow and Quiet in opening. Gradual to an Explosion or Outburst. Bad Tempered and Clearly Insane, but Philosophical. Maybe, dare I say, Cultured - once a grand creature, still Proud, occasionally inserting himself among movers and shakers of the mortal races to cause Deadly Chaos. (Remember, Thrall allegedly was given a deadly riddle by this being in the cancelled "Warcraft Adventures" -- who is to say the shaman didn't get a vision from Deathwing in retcon, minus the hookah smoking?) The opening 30-or-so secs nails that. It's what follows that drops off. Typical bad guy voice. It could be a Chaos Space Marine or the latest chump challenging Voltron, the Power Rangers or Superman in a cartoon. And yeah, Thrall or Garrosh's uncle on Line 2 sounds right. Blizz should get someone else to do the Deathwing voice. Metzen is getting too recognizable. Stephen Russell (Thief and System Shock games) doing anything these days? Also, it's easy to play the "MIGHTY HUGE DRAGON AND I'M SHOWING IT" card as a villain. It's harder to play the villain that puts on a simple cheap outfit and doesn't care what you think, it has power for what it is already and doesn't have to impress you. And you feel that.

Well, if we think he doesn't sound good enough and we need more voice actors, I am pretty sure Mel Gibson both fits the bill and probably is gonna need work soon...
