WoW TCG invites you on a Spectral Safari this weekend

Wait! It is! In fact, Cryptozoic Entertainment has distributed a bunch of Spectral Tigers to select hobby stores, and all you have to do for a chance to win is attend their Spectral Safari event. In Cryptozoic's words:
Sounds like fun to me. The WoW TCG is a very accessible game, and with the upcoming Class Decks, getting started is easier than ever. Check the Cryptozoic forum for details on the Spectral Safari location nearest to you!A tournament friendly to players of all experience levels, the Spectral Safari participants will receive-at random-one of the 18 Class Starter Decks and compete in a tournament with that deck. The first 25 players to register for the event will pocket a Landro's Pet Box code. Players who do well will earn Wrath Gate booster packs, and the winner picks up a Blazing Hippogryph Loot card. The Spectral Tiger will be randomly won as a door prize at the end of the event, so every entrant has an equal opportunity to ride home in style!

And trail-blazers are usually....

British?

Sweet, there's one happening right next to my parents house, maybe 15 minutes away from me.
Too bad I've never played a TCG of any form in my life. The Blazing Hyppogryph looks like pure Win.

Some stores are offering demos to new players. Give them a call. I'm sure they'd love to help a new player find a home. =)

Never played the TCG either but I'd so go there if there was one near me... unfortunately the next one, and it's the only one in my country, is 190km from where I live (which is the capital so... why the fuck does that not take place in the capital? Oo)... :(

Aw man that tiger would go great with my spirit wolves, and the spirit shoveltusks that pop out of my shoulders...

I’m blown away. The only store doing this in my ENTIRE Province is the one in my town. I have never played a TCG – ever, but I’m actually tempted to do this. I’ll be the only 30 yr old female there, I’m willing to bet. ;D

Heh, I'm in the same as you... never played but this sounds fun (well I played a bit of MTG wayyy back when). plus Saturday is my b-day so would be fun to try something new even though I'd probably be the only female there. >.>

This is going to be a blast and a GREAT tournament for first-timers. You guys should definitely come check it out.

I've played other CCGs, but never the WoW one, but this is one of my only two chances to get a kitty (I play Horde, and the other involves ZG and the RNG gods, who hate me).
I for sure will be there, even if the one in my area's being held at a gamestore I don't particularly want to give money to.
Wulf Jul 22nd 2010 1:52PM
Hrm... The only one in my area is at some backwoods gaming den that doesn't even have a website... I may have to stop by... Could use a 3rd one for my worgen.
Starlin Jul 22nd 2010 2:00PM
Someone should point out that entry into the event is $20 with no guarantees of getting a tiger.
CrimsonEyedDeath Jul 22nd 2010 2:16PM
Still worth a shot, with better odds for your money than buying $20 of the very out-of-print boosters the Spectral Tiger came in.
And as the event's sealed, it's perfect for people who've never played the game before (like myself).
blinkman987 Jul 22nd 2010 2:40PM
The first 25 people to register get the Landro's Gift code, however. Also, if you contact your store ahead of time, you could probably get a demo and compete. Anybody who finishes the tournament-- no matter what record-- is eligible for the Tiger drawing. Good luck! =)

I got all excited, it's hard to find a place to play in our area and we haven't found people to play with since we moved up here (Phili area). Then I went and looked and found only one in the entire state of PA... in Pittsburgh. Ugh.
There may not be alot of wow:tcg players in our area, but there is a pretty high concentration of WoW players who will probably go for a chance at the mount.
Oh that poor little Delaware store... there's no point in us trying to go with the sheer crowd that'll descend on that game store once the news gets around (which this article is surely helping to do). :(

I'll see you at the Wilmington store! Looking forward to the madness!

The only one in Wisconsin is in *Fort Atkinson*? The hell?
Cyanea Jul 22nd 2010 10:21PM
I've been to these in the past.
They're NOT novice friendly. They might be at first, but the final rounds almost inevitably come down to the 20-something guys using whatever netdecked deck/strategy won the last major tournament.
