Sylvanas being unambiguously evil and Garrosh acting like an honourable goodguy? My whole world has been flipped upside down!
Eatz Jul 23rd 2010 3:34PM
Should only be flipped half upside down.
eyeball2452 Jul 23rd 2010 4:25PM
Yeah, it's cool that the more you hear, the deeper the characters get. I think it's going to be awesome to see all the different facets of Garrosh and Sylvanas in Cat.
I was surprised to hear Sylvanas reference UC, WP, EP as being Lordaeron too. That was cool. I always thought of the UD as having claiming/taking over the territories vs coming back to and resettling it.

Sylvanus being evil, how is this a surprise to anyone ?
Eternauta Jul 23rd 2010 5:16PM
I fail to see the "evil" in recruiting Val'kyr to the forsaken ranks and using them to raise the dead as forsaken. DK's do it everyday, so do Warlocks (kinda).
kasapina Jul 23rd 2010 5:30PM
Indeed, nothing bad about giving horde warriors an extra life, it's not like she's enslaving them like the Lich King or anything.
The day blizzard makes Sylvanas a villain and raid boss is the day I will reroll to alliance.
Hurbster Jul 23rd 2010 5:43PM
Er, hello ? Using the plague ? Raising people against their will ? Any of this connecting at all ?
Amberm Jul 23rd 2010 5:49PM
I thought Sylvanas hated the fact that she was 'raised' against her will and made Forsaken. Didn't she demand Artha's give her a clean death? I guess she got over it.
Dreyja Jul 23rd 2010 5:56PM
Exactly Amberm. I am once again not surprised by her actions. Every step she has taken since she regained her "will" she has acted just like Arthas. I don't' know why this would surprise anyone.
You guys can paint it up all you want. There is no way you can assure me that she's raising people who want it. Are they ripped out of the after-life?
Pfft - Sylvanas. Her devotees will see it how ever they wish but she is plainly evil and will turn on the horde as soon as it suits her.
kasapina Jul 23rd 2010 6:16PM
Jack, that's exactly the problem I have with how the plot will most likely unfold. Blizzard are the ones writing the story and I would hate to see a character like Sylvanas be killed just because they decided that she will turn against the horde in a sloppy way that will make her faction back down on her.
While I like the irony that you guys noticed and I didn't, it's still a fact that she isn't stripping anyone of their free will. I've resurrected you, feel free to die again if you don't want this extra life. Sylvanas resents Arthas because he tried to doom her to an eternal servitude as a killing machine without free will, not because he gave her an extra life.

I haven't played horde that much (and Forsaken none) but I think I understand Sylvanas' motives here. Her goal is to give the Forsaken a place on Azeroth, and Lordaeron (as their native land before the plague struck) is her first choise. Now, because the Forsaken cannot reproduce themselves their forces will eventually weaken and as a result of that they will lose territories to the alliance. The only way for Sylvanas to ensure that the Forsaken have a strong presence in Lordaeron is to use the Val'kyr... From the point of Garrosh I can see why this brings tention to the relations between him and Sylvanas, after all I don't think he wants to see her grow too powerful. From what I understand, the common goal between the orcs and the forsaken have been to fight the scourge, and now when the Lich King has been defeated, that reason for an alliance is gone. What remains is - at best - a common hate for the humans. As hinted in Cataclysm, that the conflict between Horde and Alliance will grow hotter again, that might be enough to keep their alliance intact. For now.
To speculate wildly into the future, it's interesting to see how the Argent Crusade will respond to this. Their goal has been to clear Lordaeron from the scourge and as they clearly recognise the Forsaken as a race of their own it could be a possibility that they will consider the land liberated and that the Forsaken is its righful owner. In doing so their reputation with the Alliance would drop dramatically and if Garrosh decides to stage a coup d'etat to overthrow Sylvanas, or even declare a war to have her replaced, that could in a distant future lead to an alliance between the Argent Crusade and the Forsaken. Imagine both Garrosh and Wrynn going to a full-on war versus the Forsaken, over basically the Forsaken's right to exist. Given the similarities of situation between Ebon Hold and the Forsaken, it is not unlikely that the Ebon Hold would join the new alliance in order to secure Lordaeron and the rights of the Forsaken. Such a future could also mean that the Scarlet Crusade recieves heavy support from the Alliance in order to wage a guerilla war in Lordaeron, "behind enemy lines". And who knows, maybe Tirion Fordrings old pal from the north, the new Lich King (depending on the degree of demonic influences there...) decides to send aid... I can see the expansion following Cataclysm: "The Return of the Lich King" ^^
Actually, not too unlikely, given Blizzard's new strategy of making the world more dynamic. World is changing, new races joining alliances, old races leaving alliances, new alliances forming... Would be pretty interesting to see, in my opinion.

Right could someone explain this to me, wasnt a new lich king placed inside the frozen throne, so the scource and all of the lk's subjects would be under his control ....again? How come the val kyrs just simply got loose? And why arent the scourge running around "ike a "plague of locusts" as i think the cutscene said.
jealouspirate Jul 23rd 2010 3:03PM
Note to listeners: many of these conversation clips are out of order, so that's why it makes little sense.
Josin Jul 23rd 2010 3:08PM
The Sylvanas speech effect is really annoying. Perhaps shortening the echo effect or something would help...? Good effin' grief.
snowleopard233 Jul 23rd 2010 4:08PM
Metzen should just do Sylvannas from now on. you know what? Just let Metzen do everyone.
Tyr Jul 23rd 2010 7:03PM
No thanks, 20 Thrall copies are enough for now.
