Y'know, what really pisses me off is Blizzard temp and perma bans people on the forums for foul language, myself included. Yet they use foul language and sexual references in game and at Blizzcon.
What is that all about?
Personally I don't have a problem with bad language, what I DO have a problem with is the blatant double standard.
Blizzard un-ban your customers please and thanks. Nobody likes a hypocritical jerk.
(Please don't downrank this guys, I feel like I have a valid point here. I'm not trying to stir the pot, I'm just really annoyed.)
Michael Sacco Jul 23rd 2010 4:58PM
Blizzard doesn't take any action for "bitch," or really any other word in its general category. The language policy is much, much more lenient nowadays than it was in vanilla. You have to go straight-up vulgar or f-word level stuff if you want to get suspended.
Angry Cooper Jul 23rd 2010 5:05PM
People find all sorts of different things offensive.
If I went to church and starting using the word "Bitch" , I'd probably get asked to leave. Right?
With that being said, is "Bitch" a foul word or perhaps do you think its subjective?
Michael Sacco Jul 23rd 2010 5:08PM
I don't feel it's particularly out of context in a video game in which you spend 95% of your time committing indiscriminate murder, no.
Angry Cooper Jul 23rd 2010 5:16PM
I totally agree. Also a game in which most of the player are young adults, the same set of rules should be applied to the forums.
My point is that I've said much less or equal to the word in question, and been temp banned which ended up leading to a perma ban due to the infamous "penalty volcano".
It's all perception really..
My apologies for my little rant, just being vocal on something I find quite odd and a little bit unfair.
Quich Jul 23rd 2010 4:55PM
It sounded like Garrosh only got angry in that third video because he didn't know what the word procreate meant.
Kurash Jul 23rd 2010 5:39PM
"Well, Garrosh, when a Val'kyr and a Forsaken really love each other..."
Lyinar Jul 23rd 2010 5:00PM
You know, it kind of makes me wonder if Thrall picked Garrosh to be the new Warchief partially because he knew that it would force Garrosh to grow up.
Syung Jul 23rd 2010 5:13PM
I didn't think anything could make me like Garrosh after all his douchery in WotLK, but he dismisses a guy for killing innocents by throwing him off a friggin' cliff?? Alright, Hellscream, I'm listening.
Bogmunch Jul 23rd 2010 5:38PM
Obviously the Horde are still the misunderstood good guys, and the "noble savage" archetypes. With the exception of the Forsaken who are clearly lawful evil and are well on their way out of the Horde IMO.
All along Sylvanas wanted Arthas dead for two simple reasons:
1) Revenge.
2) Power.
She wanted the Lich Kings power for her own agenda: Death to the living. She is no different than the Lich King, and never was. The Forsaken are merely a break-off faction of the Scourge.
Don't be fooled by her clever tongue. Garrosh knows whats up.
Vonmises Jul 23rd 2010 5:43PM
What about before she was undead? Or does that not count?
Bogmunch Jul 23rd 2010 5:53PM
Arthas was once a good man with noble intentions believe it or not, but was slowly driven mad by the presence of an old god living under Lordaeron. (Yes there's an old god living near or under Lordaeron.)
Sylvanas was driven mad in her own right by being subjected to cruel unthinkable tortures. She was not granted a quick merciful death. Oh, quite the contrary... She died a slow agonizing death, then raised as a hideous banshee.
This is not the Sylvanas of old... Sylvanas had long since died and been replaced by a cruel sadistic monster who wished death to all living things.
What were the rest of the Scourge like before they died? I'm sure most were decent people in life...
Dreyja Jul 23rd 2010 6:10PM
Well said Bogmunch. The fact that she is so blinded by her own hatred to see that she`s become exactly what she claims to hate just adds to the tragedy of who she used to be.
Kinka Jul 23rd 2010 5:46PM
I think I understand crazy lady now...
Sylvanas is clearly still batshit insane and has some of the same issues of playing with fire that she's always had. I have no doubt that she DOES genuinely care about her own Forsaken, however rough around the edges she might be. Since the Lich King died, her drive is now on finding a home for her people and keeping it. When I first read the dialogue between her and Garrosh and having no voices to hear I thought she might be turning into a sarcastic back-hander, but listening to her here makes me think maybe her interest isn't in overthrowing the Horde or killing the living.
She loves/loved her homeland more than anything else. Having it ripped in two like it was is what defined all of her actions in the future. Her people have just regained their homes and are, in a sense, rebuilding it. The Alliance refuses to acknowledge their hold. Her deepest fear is that once again The Forsaken will have to watch their nation sacked, destroyed, and taken from them, which is why she feels she NEEDS the reinforcements. To her, nothing would be worse than the ones loyal to her losing their homes when she could have done something about it.
She's not a goody goody, but I've become convinced that her actions are not necessarily intended to annihilate everyone. Just those who don't recognize the Forsaken's sovereignty, or indeed even their free will.
NielsdeJONG Jul 23rd 2010 8:19PM
Then explain the plague which had to make sure that "not even their bones would be left"? O.O
naixdra Sep 14th 2010 3:05PM
@NielsdeJONG
Would you fight someone with your arms tied behind your back, because your mom said so?
The Plague is the best weapon the Forsaken have, and frankly they are the least populated race in the Horde. So why waste few precious soldiers and warriors fighting by Garrosh's terms when a simple plague barrel would do the job faster, more thoroughly, and with little to no loss of life on the Forsaken side.
kasapina Jul 24th 2010 4:32AM
There is no place for honor or fairness in war, imo. Both in the real world and the virtual battlefields. And the forsaken were never idealists in the first place.

I'm beginning to really like Garrosh, He's not just a mindless idiot after all. I'm also glad to see him doing more than Thrall. Sure, I like Thrall but I'm glad to see actual war in Warcraft.
