Let's get the facts straight.

Godfrey was a Gilnean traitor who leads a faction of non-worgen in Gilneas. Upon learning that Greymane is a worgen, he tries to sell out Greymane and the worgen to Sylvanas in exchange for mercy, but fails. He then kill himself rather than be led by a worgen king.

He is later raised as a Forsaken by Sylvanas. In time he betrays her as well, killing her and retreating to Shadowfang Keep where he will be a new boss (the storylines for many of the dungeons have been updated with new characters and bosses).

Sylvanas then brings herself back to life by sacrificing two Valk'yr that she's bound her soul to. This is the point at which she begins to become paranoid about the free will the Forsaken are granted, and leads to some major events in the Plaguelands.
