So, it's been said that while Moviewatch is riveting, blood-elf-loving fun, we've not had a whole lot to say in this column about Cataclysm. The feedback is that WoW machinima is awesome and all, but after two years of the gloomy blue and black of Northrend, it'd be nice to get a video tour of the new stuff in beta. Okay. We can do that.
Allow me to present to you Muffin's presentation of Beta Cataclysm: Kalimdor. The video is on two parts on YouTube because of its extreme length and thorough examination of the landscape. If all the screenshots and glorious news hasn't sold you on how incredible Blizzard's artwork is, kick back and let Muffin take you for a ride.
Make sure to check out both parts.
Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at machinima@wow.com.
Pretty good, though I think "Beta Cataclysm: Kalimdor" is a false name. It was more "Beta Cataclysm: Horde" as they almost completely skipped over Alliance parts of Kalimdor (a Night Elf battalion in Ashenvale was about it), showed the Horde parts of Vash'jir (which is in Eastern Kingdoms), and showed Throne of Tides and Blackrock Caverns (again both in EK) at the end.
The creator of this video is a horde player named Vaoson on the Muradin forum. She is one of those "hate everything alliance" type people so not showing much alliance stuff is no surprise.
@Phoulmouth: Ahh, yes! I hope you're wrong about this. I'm... aware... of Vao. He/she/it is also a very, very mean troll in the chat -- whether horde-side or as an alt "spy" on the ally-side. I'd actually ask WoW.com to take down a video made by such a person if I thought it would do any good. If true, WoW.com has inadvertently supported one of the worst, trollish, hateful people on Muradin.
You are right, she is a complete and total piece of trash. She generally spends her time on her ally spy in trade chat upsetting people in order to report them as soon as they start cussing at her. While I don't agree with cussing in an open chat, the fact that she purposely trolls in order to make people mad to that extend is quite pathetic. It is a dark stain on wow.com for posting this video and I am in agreement that it should be removed. But I doubt the opinion of 2 people will make that happen. Unfortunately this video is not the only issue I have with postings/posters on this site.
Thanks, however I was unsure on what to title the movie. I decided to name it Kalimdor simply because that continent was the only "finished" continent at the time. I then decided to add in Vashj'ir and Blackrock Caverns despite the fact that they are on EK. This was simply to show off the new completed zones instead of waiting for the next Eastern Kingdoms movie. As for deliberately excluding Alliance zones, most of them were not even ready when I was filming. I'm not entirely familiar with all the Alliance zones on Kalimdor since it is a more Horde dominated continent. However, EK will be more focused on the Alliance side given that SW, IF and a ton of alliance themed zones are now finished and waiting to be filmed.
wow... god forbid there be a video that doesn't glorify the alliance every second. Chill out. I'm sure there's a alliance player out there BEGGING to be showered with attention. They will make an alliance loving video soon enough.
Muffin is full of win. His beta videos of both TBC and WotLK were absolute works of art. Check them out on WCM; you won't regret it. In fact, iirc he got a job offer because of his WotLK Part 1 video.
Fantastic video compilation. This footage is proof that blizzard is the most environmentally green earth friendly company in the world: 95% of their models are recycled and no new pixels where cut down in the making of the expansion.

"View as she made, not as she troll...?"
you know what I mean!

EXCELLENT video. I'm excited to see it soon.

@A1CYancy Actually I'm Horde. It was just an observation.

I definitely agree. This is much better. It seems to have come from the site irnub.com, it is on their front page.
