Red glow on a white weapon? Have you ever seen how bad lighting effects are in wow? If you have anything on your person in shades of white it completely absorbs (read: glows) the color of the zone you're in. Swords are no exception.

It's a trick of the light. I played a mage through that area, but there's no way to pick up anything other than ordinary weapons by that point.
