The Guild's new music video: Game On
The Guild has released a new music video, which was originally debuted at San Diego Comic-Con last week. This time, they've jumped from the virtual scene into the Bollywood scene. Zaboo (Sandeep Parikh) leads a song in which he tries to convince Codex (Felicia Day) to put down her book and jump into the game. The set is complete with a full ensemble of dancers, wonderful choreography, the rest of The Guild's cast and even a real elephant. They did a wonderful job of mimicking Bollywood style and still keep with their usual sense of humor, which shows up in everything they do.
This comes in the middle of their season 4 storyline involving the quest to build the better guild hall, as well as Codex's usual dose of drama where gaming and real life collide. Check out their latest adventures on Bing.

I was enjoying this video until Vork came in.... then it got even better! I recognized the whole "subtitle what the lyrics sound like in english" thing, although I couldn't remember the source, so thanks for the links!
I think I like this one a bit better than Date my Avatar. It looks like more effort went into it, and the Bollywood influence was pretty nice. Overall, another very enjoyable video.

If this is merely mediocre, then I guess I need more mediocrity in my life, plz!!!
Seriously. This is really clever! It may not be ground-breaking or anything in terms of technology or style but it's not supposed to be. Sure the dance-steps are a little off and there are some corny bits, but that's part of The Guild's charm. If it were absolute perfection, it would lose most of its appeal for me.
Props to The Guild. Well-done fun.

Another funny video, although not quite as catchy.

Date My Avatar had a better song and a better video, but Game On is so unafraid to be kitchy that I can't help but like it. The Felicia Day factor helps too...

It's very simple: when it was just gamers supporting the show everyone loved it. Now those who cannot stand liking something "mainstream" discovered non-gamers started watching they flipped and the venom started flowing. Just like it was cool to like The Guild when no one had heard of it it's now becoming cool to be a contrarian now that it's popular across the board.
