The Classifieds: Puzzling over the world of Azeroth
The Classifieds brings you weekly news from around the WoW community, including our famous Random Acts of Uberness.
While we at WoW.com are hard at work puzzling out the latest round of changes from the Cataclysm beta, we've got something for you to puzzle over as well: a "Where in the World of Warcraft?" crossword puzzle from The Puzzle Hub. This one's themed around places throughout Azeroth, Outland and Northrend. If that mind-bender strikes your fancy, there's a "Who in the World of Warcraft?" version, too. Thanks for the tip, Benji -- these look they'll most assuredly help keep our minds off the agony of watching beta test class changes scritching and scratching back and forth.

Random Acts of Uberness
It's when another player lights up your night with precise play, a wicked sense of humor or unexpected generosity that your login becomes something to remember. Share your Random Acts of Uberness with theclassifieds@wow.com. Keep things brief (150 words or less, please), and be sure to list everyone's character names and home realms or battlegroup.
Smashnheal, Grizzly Hills (US-A) I wanted to thank Smashnheal for a cross-faction act of kindness. I've been grinding towards Loremaster the past while and was stuck on all the phased 5-mans; I was able to solo most of them but sometimes at 5-6 attempts each. Smash was at a similar place in his chain, so despite not being able to communicate beyond emotes, we went through the Battle at Valhala chain together one step at a time, each encounter twice back-to-back, so that we could both finish the quests. I got my Icecrown: The Final Goal achievement, which left me with about 50 quests in Storm Peaks to reach Loremaster. Thanks again, Smashnheal! -- Vodkabull, Grizzly Hills (US-H)
Memoriah,<Dragons of Time>, Nagrand (US-H) Nearing the end of the Tier 0.5 q chain I hit a roadblock : a Flask of Supreme Power. None in the AH, the recipe wasn't dropping for me in Scholo, so a quick visit was needed to the realm forums to ask if anyone had the recipe or could make one. I was contacted by Memoriah with one for sale. I was ready to hand over some cash but when she learned I needed the flask for the q chain, she gave me the recipe for nothing!! There really are some nice people out there. :-) Thanks Memoriah, you saved me a living hell in Scholo!! Cheers -- Truesilver, Nagrand (US-H)

The well-dressed paladin If two puzzles aren't enough to keep you busy this week, maybe you need to enter Pugging Pally's Well-Dressed Paladin contest. Hey, you don't even have to be a paladin to enter! All you have to do is come up with a chic paladin outfit -- all the details are available on the contest post. Contest prizes include custom artwork of your character; as a Drama Mama who enjoys a Kelly Aarons avatar, I can personally vouch for the cool factor of having great art of your own dude. (Thanks for the tip, Kelsey.)
But wait! We've got yet one more opportunity for those of you who'd like some custom character art. WoW.com artist Zach Yonzon is also offering readers the shot at some custom character artwork. Send Zach a screenshot and some notes on your character; more details in the Character Sketch submissions callout.

Be careful with featuring acts of uberness such as Smashnheal's... I'm all for promoting a better community, but not all out World (of Warcraft) Peace! :)
richtoad Jul 28th 2010 5:30PM
agreed i'd be really surprised if this was on a pvp server. i say kill the guy at the most oppurtune moment
Rude Hero Jul 28th 2010 5:42PM
I've really enjoyed moments those on pvp servers- it somehow feels more significant when both players actually have the option to work against each other.
In particular, there were a couple of elite quests in Winterspring (yes, winterspring) that I did with the help of an opposite-faction paladin on my first character. It was a nice change of pace from the hostile rogues and hunters that seemed to plague my leveling experience.

We've created several commercials parodying the Dos Equis Most Interesting Man In The World to promote Dragons March, including the one in the article and these:

Runetotem is my home server, and Soundwave is a great World PvP organizer. The Horde on Runetotem captured and held all four Alliance capital cities for an hour one evening. Great fun.
I highly recommend this newest event.

In what alternate reality is that pathetic puzzle a CROSSword? That's just a list of answers wrapped up in a spiral. No single answer is dependent on any other answer.
Will Shortz would facepalm so fast there'd be a sonic boom.
LuckRunsOut Jul 28th 2010 7:30PM
That "crossword" is confusing. Am I right in thinking that the last letter of each answer should be the first letter of the next one? That seems to be how it works. Please, go work out the answers to numbers 48 and 49, and tell me how they match up. R != W.

Posting in support of the Runetotem event. Read further down in the thread, see link to another thread (posted by Roxanne, myself), still need footage for trailers. :P

"Nagrand (US)"
Yeah, we love you too.
