A previous Whale Shark Week commenter said they're "much larger than Thrym."
I can't stop repeating that phrase over and over in terror like a crazy person in a padded room.

I've heard they're "roughly three Thryms long". A Thrym presumably being a distance equal to Thrym's height.

See this shot actually looks like it's underwater.
When I was watching Big Red Kitty play around in underwaterland it just looked like regular WoW except you could fly.

Currently the whale shark sometimes pats through the horde boat where you start questing there in vash'jir.
Yes, through the boat.
I went to right click the guy for my next quest and ended up attacking the shark and promptly got hit for 200k or so.
