I have a feeling about Sylvannas...
She's too strong of a character to ever really become a villain, I think. Granted, the path she's on now pretty much prevents her from being a good person...unless something dramatic happens.
There's this weird feeling I have that Blizzard will bring Alleria back. She might be an "Alliance" member, but if Sylvannas actually gets a sister that accepts her, a link to her past that might restore some of her good, maybe her evil will subside. Maybe she'll go on a more "Pro Horde, Anti Evil" tangent.
This is a completely out-there theory, but Sylvannas has never really been treated as anything but an abomination. By Thrall, she was only hesitantly accepted, mostly because he needed a Lordaeron foothold. By Garrosh, she is openly despised. By her own sister, Valleria, she is completely rejected. If one piece of life would show her some acceptance, even slight understanding, maybe she wouldn't feel compelled to seek the embrace of undeath and its constant proliferation.
Also, you said no one is breaking down the doors to "kill Tyrande." You are wrong. She is my most despised Lore character. I don't see how someone who kills her own people, doesn't listen to an obviously smarter and wiser Companion (Malfurion), and basically causes about everything that went wrong in BC because of her own stubbornness and stupidity can be considered a hero. I'd much rather have Maiev as a racial leader.

About Alleria... If she comes back, it will be alongside General Turalyon. Now, if you remember, no one despises the Horde more than Turalyon. Not even Varian. Not even Greymane. There are far better chances that Alleria joins with Valleria's point of view than she goes and accept Sylvanas' new form...Both her other sister and her lover would be against it, and I'm not sure she'd like to meet more undeads after seeing her fair share during the Second War.

You raise a fair point, and yeah, it was my main point of hesitation when writing that post.
But, you have to wonder what happened to both of them in OL. They just kinda disappeared. Who knows what kind of emotional changes happened to them.
Plus, I'd have to think that Alleria, being a smart and nice elf and all, might be able to look past that to her sister.
But, this is all just idle speculation and hopeful pipe dreaming.

what i am wondering is if (and i pray they dont) they make sylvannas a baddie will the forsaken stand by her or the horde?
as a forsaken player i personally hope that sylvie hasnt checked into the loonie clinic yet!
Fletcher Jul 30th 2010 8:49AM
I have to concur with you regarding Tyrande - she's a traitor to her people and a hypocrite in the eyes of the Goddess. I harbour an unreasoning infatuation for Maiev Shadowsong, but I have to say I don't think she'd make a good leader. Maiev's not a politician, there are no shades of grey in her world. Death Knights? Atrocities! Mages? Heresy! Warlocks? Servants of the Legion! Slay them all!
Under Maiev, a great many good elves - or useful elves, at least, elves necessary to the holy work of healing Kalimdor and driving the orcs back into the Great Sea - would be executed. Maiev is inescapable justice, a pillar of righteousness, and refuses to make compromises in the pursuit of justice. Politics, alas, is all about compromise.
With that said, I would like Tyrande a lot more if she went back to her WC3 roots, put her plate armour back on, hopped on her giant armoured tiger, picked up her glaive, and got serious about driving the orcs out of Ashenvale, Kalimdor, and Azeroth. She is a general as well as a priestess, and the war in Kalimdor desperately needs a general.
Asgaroth Jul 31st 2010 4:05AM
Maiev was crazy! Sure Tyrande may have made some poor choices, but a traitor she is not. She answers to Elune and Elune only. Her decisions were the best options at her command at the time. Maiev was wronged, but Maiev was not guilt free either, Her desire to find Illidan, completely blinded her, causing her to lie to Malfurion and leave her sister for dead.
Asgaroth Jul 31st 2010 4:09AM
I do agree with you about Sylvannas. She is only acting the way everyone expects her to behave. I think it will have to be someone like Alleria to bring those sisters together and soften Sylvannas' heart!
carnane Jul 31st 2010 1:44PM
But Asgaroth, Tyrande was blinded by her own decision. She didn't listen to Malfurion, and it cost a lot of good people their lives in the long run, a good portion of which were her own people at her own hand.
I don't see why killing her own people in the name of a God makes her a good leader.
And Fletcher, that comment about rather having Maiev just shows you how much I hate Tyrande.

I wanna share my RL WoW story too!
I was stocking shelves at a past job of mine and a trio of guys walk by and I hear one say "..no the other continent, Not Eastern Kingdoms, the western one."
Without looking up from my work I say "Kalimdor" and continue stocking my shelves.
The one says "thanks" and him and his friends walk off.
Rakah Jul 29th 2010 7:32PM
great show yet again
Stormkiller Jul 29th 2010 8:19PM
Congratulations on 150.
i do have one gripe tho...
Who is eating their microphone every week? It really annoying listening, then all of a sudden theres a hurricane in the room, (or at least it sounds like one) It gets a little hard to hear whats being said every now and then.
Great show as always guys, keep up the good work. :)

Grats on dinging 150. ^_^
For the record, I listened to this podcast while, as you put it, banging my head against the Baron, in hopes of the mount drop. Nothing yet, but I definitely wasn't bored.
Szaboa Jul 29th 2010 9:08PM
Where's 'Anne with an E'?
Grats on show 150, but not much point if Anne's not there.

My RL story...
My husband and I were getting a little burnt out on raiding, so we decided to take a night off and go have dinner, relax, and just enjoy some time away from the computers. So we're sitting at dinner, talking about WoW (I know, pathetic), and it turns out that the waitress at the restaurant plays WoW and invites us to join her raiding guild! It was classic. Taking a night off and we end up spending most of the night talking to our new WoW friend :)

Was the Invincible thing really a joke? Don't know about any such joke going on.
Sounds more like that guy mixed up Invincible and Invisble, which, considering he actually sent such a question to podcast, is pretty..... embarrasing.
linkers746 Jul 30th 2010 9:35AM
I heard that "enemy's gate is down"
Ender's game FTW!!!
oddf3llow Jul 30th 2010 10:42AM
Awww poor Mat, who's a die hard Horde guy, gets shot down and called a fanboy by Matt, who by the way, is a die hard Alliance guy!
Oh the Irony.
I'm guessing Mat wasn't that pleased;
Mike: "Hey, it's great to be able to just chat about stuff right guys?"
Mat: "....... sure"
Anyway, fantastic show again guys. I've been listening for a few months now and they keep getting better!
Here's to the next 150! =D
Feezee Jul 30th 2010 4:37PM
I'm not sure I would call Rossi a "die hard alliance guy", but I enjoyed hearing him smack down Mat, who seems to need that every so often throughout the show so other people get to talk for a bit without him shouting his opinion over the top of them, very funny that it came from Rossi who used to do that in earlier shows.
What was up referring to "the former hosts" instead of just saying "Turpster and Mike Schramm"? Using people's actual names would be more polite.
