We shouldn't start thinking about Farmville (or any other game for that matter) as detracting from WoW, because technically, any game that ISN'T WoW can impact its player-base. Why single one game out in particular?
That's the nature of games, they often compete for an audience or demographic, overlapping genres specifically to reach out to more gamers. Farmville is no exception, and any game that can pull together a bunch of players has definitely succeeded in what games are MEANT to do: get people to play them. I think WoW does this just fine, so there's no need to worry over nothing.
