Call for Submissions: Declarations of war

WoW.com is accepting article submissions on managing guild wars in World of Warcraft. Submissions should be between 750 and 1,000 words. We will not accept articles submitted under player names or pen names; please use your full, real name and email. Artwork is not mandatory, but any you choose to include must be your own work or from creative commons.
Unfortunately, since Seed.com accounts currently are not supported by non-US IP addresses, we currently can only accept submissions from individuals living in the United States. We hope Seed will be closer to supporting international access later this year; check seed.com or the Seed blog for updates.
To submit an article, read up about our guest post program, then sign up for Seed. WoW.com articles are not listed among Seed's open category listings; click here to view the assignment and submit your article. (You won't be able to see it unless you have a Seed account.) We'll accept submissions for this assignment until 11:59 p.m. EDT on Thurs., Aug. 5. Good luck and good writing!

My guild has a sister guild hordeside. We organize fun events like Gurubashi Arena battles, where the winner gets to pick a song for one of our druids to sing. (He's terrible, and it robs him of dignity, which we enjoy.)

Rules of engagement and how to pick a fight with another guild. All you need is a guy with a fake eye and a foul mouth!

In one of my old guild's we managed to pick up a rivalry just by having the same raid schedule, our actual raids both started at 20:30 server time but most of the time the entire 25man's on both side were there at least half n hour before, this started in 3.1 and carried on till the end of trial of the crusader, I still see the guild around but since I switched to Horde I can no longer kill them, it seems to be that optional world pvp has dropped since ICC opened, maybe because of the forced non mounted corridors or the countless lock portals we seem to now have

Step 1 : Install EVE Online.

Downranks notwithstanding, Req has a point: EvE is much more geared towards inter-guild conflict (friendly or otherwise) than WoW. I would say the paucity of comments here is testimonial enough to that.
Indeed, WoW has been designed rather deliberately away from this concept, with Horde and Alliance bring unable to communicate in-game and intra-faction conflict being largely limited to the occasional free-for-all zone. The establishment of multi-server battlegroups has generally improved the quality of battlegrounds, but has made rivalries a lot harder to establish.
Ironically, it takes a fair amount of cooperation to have a war around here.

Really have the editors taken the easy way out?
As long as you have to designate your guild as a PvP guild and only PvP guilds can challenge each other its fine, otherwise its just abuse report waiting to happen with griefer guilds full of the usual lvl 80 gankers picking on low level levelling guilds.
