Around Azeroth Beta Edition: The castle in the clouds in the sky
Today's submissions come from a player who prefers to remain anonymous. (No, it's not Joe Klein.) Anonymous managed to snag a number of Uldum screenshots from the beta somehow, and wishes to share them with us. Beware! Behind the cut lie pictures that the truly spoiler-free may not want to see. But then again, if you're truly spoiler-free, you probably skipped this post due to the "beta" in the title. So read on!
Want to see your own screenshot here? Send it to aroundazeroth@wow.com. We strongly prefer full-sized pictures with no UI or names showing. Please include "Azeroth" in the subject line so your email doesn't get marked as spam, and include your name, guild and server if you want to be credited.

Nice one. ._.

"But then again, if you're truly spoiler-free, you probably skipped this post due to the "beta" in the title."
Argh.
Putting "beta" in the title DOES NOT LET US SKIP PAST THE IMAGES. The image is NOT behind a cut, and the gallery is displayed, too--as thumbnails, but still visible. ANYONE looking at the front page of wow.com will see it.
So, I ask for approximately the billionth time:
Do you have any plans to *start putting Cata screenshots behind cuts*? PLEASE consider doing so.
flairness Aug 1st 2010 10:51AM
Oh my GOD. You're going to a wow site that heavily reports Cataclysm information. Deal with it.
This reminds me of Livejournal wanks about putting spoilers behind an LJ cut. Deal with it, move on.
Sleutel Aug 1st 2010 10:54AM
@flairness:
Except they're acting like putting "beta" in the title magically helps people not see a screenshot that's right there. It doesn't bother me THAT much, or I'd stop reading the site altogether until Cata is released--but really, it would be such a *tiny* amount of effort on their part. So excuse me for wanting to see the new version of the world *in person* instead of licking up crumbs of other people's table scraps.

You know wow.com has this thing called a RSS Feed that you can use. Then you just see the title of the articles and you can pick the ones you want to look at. Then you only see what you want to, so stop your QQing.
Iano Aug 1st 2010 11:37AM
Sleutel,
In very deed, as the above replier mentions, putting Beta in the title DOES magically allow you to not see anything in the post, using the RSS feed. If you are trying to avoid Cataclysm info and have not figured out a way NOT to see the screenshots, such as this, for yourself, you are being lazy and silly. Frankly, the fact that Wow.com is being so cautious about revealing too much concerning Cataclysm for the minority of players who do not wish to know is gracious and astonishing. Please avail yourself of the available methods to avoid seeing screenshots of Cataclysm.

@table scraps
"instead of licking up crumbs of other people's table scraps."
- Have fun with that, I'm dining on steak :)

Why should I have to bother to go to all the trouble of setting myself up with an RSS feed for a single site, when I can just come here and read it?
Honestly, I don't see why everyone is getting so bent out of shape by a simple suggestion to put screenshots under cuts. Does it really hurt you that much to have to click to see them?
Heilig Aug 1st 2010 12:49PM
"Why should I have to bother to go to all the trouble of setting myself up with an RSS feed for a single site, when I can just come here and read it?"
Because if you don't. you're going to see Cataclysm spoilers? Just throwing that out there.
Oh, BTW, there's something that you should probably know about this site: THE WOW.COM STAFF ARE NOT YOUR BITCHES. IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT THEY DO, GO TO ANOTHER SITE.
Crusnik Aug 1st 2010 2:03PM
Heilig's post pretty much sums it.
And also, how funny that you think you shouldn't have to do any work, and that they should just automatically fix everything for you when they've already done enough.
It's not broken, its user error.
Sleutel Aug 1st 2010 3:37PM
And yet, if you go back and read what I've posted, I've DEMANDED nothing. I've simply asked a question and made a suggestion. I haven't said, "Do this or you're a terrible site." I've simply asked--repeatedly, because I haven't yet gotten an answer--whether or not they plan to ever start putting the screenshots behind cuts, *as they have done for every other Cata spoiler*. This is not some new and crazy thing--it would just be consistent with everything else they've been doing.
So, please, Heilig, save the attitude to someone who deserves it. I'm not treating anybody like "my bitches," so go ahead and can the self-righteous indignation.
Iano Aug 1st 2010 3:49PM
Sleutel, you need to go back and read what you wrote. When you contest that putting 'Beta' in the title does not magically help you avoid the obvious screenshot, it conveys a certain attitude. We have responded in kind to the attitude you actually communicated, not to the one you -thought- you were communicating by refraining from calling Wow.com a bad site if they didn't do this.
"So, I ask for approximately the billionth time"
"ARGH."
"PLEASE consider doing so."
Are other great examples of the attitude you actually conveyed, instead of the one you may have thought you were communicating.
You are currently being bad at using the internet. Please refrain from doing so in the future.
Also, in order to satisfy your niche request, it isn't very much to ask that you use the mobile website, use an RSS feed, or something else YOU figure out. I like it the way it is. I wouldn't complain profusely if the screenshots were behind the breaks, but this is the model Wow.com has had since before it was Wow.com, and is even simply a blogging standard. It's convenient, nice, and attractive to the rest of us.
I want you to pretend that, until Cataclysm comes out, Wow.com's URL is actually Cataclysmspoilersandotherwownews.com.
I suggest treading carefully if you really want to avoid the spoilers.

OH MY GOD ITS A STATUE. NOW EVERYTHING IN CATA IS SPOILED FOR ME. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Sleutel Aug 1st 2010 8:17PM
Sigh, yet more responses that indicate you're not paying attention at all.
Enjoy your straw-man arguments, guys. I'm done here, since none of you are willing to actually engage ME instead of your idea of what I'm trying to do.
Donhorn Aug 2nd 2010 3:30AM
I'm just gonna throw this out here, if you don't want the spoiler and see "Beta" in the title there is the option to... oh... I don't know... scroll past it really fast? Then all you see of it is a blur as you zip to the next article. Also the thumbnails are pretty small, I don't think you'd take much of anything from them unless you looked at them hard. Just saying.
Ullaana Aug 1st 2010 10:29AM
Wow, these look like they were taken from CynicalBrit's Youtube video from yesterday.
Anonymous Aug 1st 2010 11:58AM
I took them on the 30th(friday).
