The Queue: A marvel of modern goblineering

If you can figure out how elevated goblin highways exist, much less stay supported, I'll give you 10 gold. An entire infrastructure that doesn't rely on something blowing up to function, that doesn't itself blow up? I know this is a fantasy game, Blizzard, but ...
Zayd asked:
"Is it true Shammys can use Ghost Wolf indoors now (in Cataclysm)?"
It's true! Not only that, but Improved Ghost Wolf (now a talent called Ancestral Swiftness, which also boosts your run speed) is in tier 2 of the enhancement tree, making it available to any shaman who wants it. Instant cast indoor Ghost Wolf? Proof that Blizzard reads forum posts.
Vanillabean asked:
"Are there any new hairstyles in Cata?"
None that we've seen yet. It's possible that more will be added later on, once the more vital art assets for the expansion are complete.
Dalrint asked:
"How does rep with the two new home-factions work? I mean, if someone wanted to farm their rep to get their mount, are we looking at a billion runecloth turn-ins, or do they have quests about? Since we can't go back and do their starting area quests, I mean..."
We're honestly not sure yet. There are quests that give Gilneas rep for Alliance and Bilgewater Cartle rep for Horde, but any cloth turn-in NPCs aren't yet implemented, if they're being implemented.
I'll worry a little more about it once we've actually seen the mounts the new races will have available.
cnx asked:
"Will Zul'Gurub be affected by Cataclysm? I've been farming for the mounts week after week for over a year and hope to continue farming them after Cataclysm if I haven't gotten them yet by then."
At press time, Zul'Gurub is still available as an instance in the beta, though the real estate is also used as a quest hub while leveling through Northern Stranglethorn.
Waycooler asked:
"A question that I haven't really seen answered anywhere, though I might just not be looking hard enough: Are Gnomes and Trolls only getting their own starting zones, and still sharing their respective portions of Ironforge and Orgrimmar? Or are they actually getting a new capital? The way Vol'jin talks to Garrosh, it would be weird for him to go back to the Isles only to hang out there for the starter zone quests, and I don't see why Mekkatorque would decide to stay in Ironforge when they've just started recapturing their city. Mostly I just want to run around a Gnome city that is actually somewhat planned well. Though, knowing Gnomes..."
Vol'Jin now hangs out on the Echo Isles, and Mekkatorque can be found at Gnomeregan's surface, planning further reclamation of the city below.

Do we have any idea if reforging will allow you to revert your item back to the way it was originally, say I'm 100 over hit cap and take that hit off for haste, but get a new piece of gear with no hit on it and I'm under the hit cap, can I change the item back to where it had all of the hit on it?
or...
Can reforging be done more than once on an item? And if so, do the stats decrease each time?
N-train Aug 2nd 2010 11:33AM
I have a feeling this can't be answered yet, since last I heard reforging wasn't currently in the beta. There's the trainer who explains it, but the actual mechanic isn't implemented.
If I had to guess, I'd say reforging probably can't be reversed (hit back to haste in your example), and I don't think its meant to be something you do multiple times. And even so, you're only messing with half of the stat, which even by Cata's large numbers, isn't going to be a game changer.
Ultimately, the goal of reforging is to allow some customization on gear, and to allow people to roll on "sidegrades" they would otherwise disenchant and throw away. It's to encourage someone to grab something that puts them over hit cap knowing they can make it slightly more useful: if the process was easily reversed or could be done repeatedly, then you wouldn't need to replace gear as frequently, defeating the point of the system.

Why wouldn't it be allowed? Every other form of item customization is redoable; why would reforging be different?
You'd expect that with reforging they'd just add a 'reforging slot' to the individual item's data, and every time you took it to the reforger they'd look at the item and offer options for that slot, with the addition of an 'original flavor' if there was something else currently in the slot.
There is, admittedly, no way to completely ungem or unenchant an item... but the only reason to do so, ever, is if you want to handicap yourself; it's never the best possible setup.

Reforging is not fully implemented yet in the beta. NPCs are there, but they do nothing. Thus, no one KNOWS anything. We are free to speculate though! Officially, Blizzard has not stated one way or the other if an item can be re-re-forged.

The simplest way to implement reforging is as a secondary enchant on a piece of gear.
If you have 100 hit on the item and want haste instead, the reforging would leave the stats intact but place an enchant that looks like "+60 Haste and -100 Hit".
Since the stats are still there on the item, a simple "remove enchant" option could be added to revert the item to the way it was. That way you wouldn't need to have a million different unique items with different stat combos as well.
No idea if this is how it will work, but it is the simplest and most effective implementation.

You might not want to ask that again, lest ye be at the mercy of the unholy Magic 8-Ball.

Any word on the new goldsinks for cataclysm?

MusedMoose Aug 2nd 2010 11:13AM
Yeah, you can run an insurance place for goblin construction.
Trust me, any gold you sink into that is *gone*.
^_^

Bleh, hit send too soon. Meant to link to the post and say "Basically, there's nothing yet, but they haven't gotten there; for a bit more verbose answer, see the EA post + Comments"

Leveling engineering?
Ba-zing!
I serioisly am trying to get goldcapped before the expansion to help me get realm first max engineer again...

Now that we can fly all over Azeroth, is Archerus open to all non-Death Knights?
Curious to know if my Death Knight's sanctuary is going to start having some visitors.
N-train Aug 2nd 2010 11:19AM
I have a feeling it will still be there in its current form, but you'll have some kind of no-fly-zone/insta-teleport out mechanism (think like the opposite faction's sanctuary in Dalaran).
That would be my guess, seeing as its supposed to be a DK-only little club, and if one wants to see it all they really have to do is run the DK starting zone.
dsjagoda Aug 2nd 2010 11:39AM
Anyone can fly up into Archerus now from up underneath it. There is a invisible ceiling around it too.
jishdefish Aug 2nd 2010 5:12PM
Speaking of new means of transportation...
Question for the Queue:
Have the Zeppelins/boats had their destinations shuffled again? Are there any new ones we should be aware of?
I know Org actually has its towers inside the city now, and the hub in Auberdine was relocated to Rut'Therin Village (Isle), but beyond that and rumors of a Vashir sub, not much else.
Skarlette Aug 3rd 2010 3:33PM
Yeah, I flew right up into Archerus as a mage on the beta, everything was fine. I even picked up the flight path.
Nonette Aug 2nd 2010 11:13AM
Clearly you've totally overlooked the key possibility for the highways. They allow an uncluttered stretch of road for vehicles to travel along and build up a great deal of speed. Once they're going fast enough, BOOM! There goes the engine! :D
RogueJedi86 Aug 2nd 2010 11:16AM
New hairstyles will come with the dance studios.
Tomatketchup Aug 2nd 2010 2:09PM
Sweet! I can't wai- oh wait.
Gossamer Aug 2nd 2010 11:19AM
I read a while back that the ability to have your Real-ID visible only to friends and not "friends of friends" was going to be available after SCII was released. While I understand that this probably requires some down time, and they didn't want to take the servers down on SCII launch day, will we be seeing this soon? Or is it implemented and I just missed it?
