World of WarCrafts: The infamous Three Dragon Azeroth shirt
World of WarCrafts spotlights art and creativity by WoW players, including fan art, cooking, comics, cosplay, music, fan fiction and more. Sample the whole spectrum on WoW.com's Arts and Crafts in WoW page.
That's right, folks -- you could do better at BlizzCon 2010 than a Three Worgen Moon T-shirt. No, we're not going retro on you and suggesting you turn back to the original Three Wolf Moon tee. What you need is something more au courant, like the Three Dragon Azeroth from MagicalMelonBall at DeviantArt.com. Sadly, this cataclysmically excellent design isn't actually available for purchase on a T-shirt ... Still, we felt the design represents a worthy upgrade from its howlingly lunar predecessor.
Ready for more fresh takes on art about Azeroth? Join us after the break for a buffet with a little something for every taste.
If you don't have a Three Anything Moon T-shirt but had still been toying with the idea of wearing something special to BlizzCon 2010, maybe what you really need is to make your own favorite tabard. Inspiration is here with this superlative version of the Orgrimmar Tabard from kodama_girl at WoW Ladies. (Thanks for the tip, Ruth!)
A feel for feathers
It tickles my fancy that this stunning boomkin necklace comes from New Zealand biologist and WoW.com reader Billbee of Khaz Modan (US). This life sciences professional obviously has a feel for the feathers, wouldn't you agree?
Billbee's boomkin pendant was only her second jewelry creation ever, crafted during a class at a local jewelry school ( "unfortunately, on raiding night," she adds). "For the moonkin, I drew a picture of how I wanted my pendant to look," she writes. "This was then transferred onto a sheet of silver (actually, the paper was stuck on directly with double-sided tape). I then cut out the outline with a jeweler's saw and did the same with the other layers and things like the feathers and toes. Then they were all soldered together, and there was a bunch of filing, sanding and polishing to get to the end result."
One cool sis
Are all sisters as cool as Ethyreal of Thaurissan (US), who whipped up this felt Horde iPhone case for her brother Shroomvii's birthday? We think not. Happy birthday, Shroomvii!

*Cataclysm spoilers*
While I am in no way a supporter of the horde, it seems that Garrosh needs one of these bad-boys to resolve any problems in the Horde that there may be between him & the undead queen, Sylvanas.

Ginny from MagicMelonBall on Deviant Art did the Restokin art for my blog. She drew me a moonkin, growing leaves, casting heal spells. She does great work!

I was losing in Alterac Valley a lot, but I set the three dragon pic as my desktop background, and now I win every match!

Excellent pieces of art that people can make...but one question bugs me...
I see Kalimdor and Northrend on that globe. I assume Eastern Kingdoms is on the opposite side of Kalimdor...but look a little above Northrend and you'll see something that looks very much like it would be the Azeroth version of the North Pole. Also, what dangers lurk on the dark side of Azeroth?..../shudder
Fletcher Aug 2nd 2010 6:50PM
It's based on the Azeroth globe in Ulduar and the one briefly visible in Black Temple. The problem with this is that whoever was responsible for them needs to be smacked in the head with a geography textbook; they put Stranglethorn and Silithus/Un'Goro/Tanaris/Uldum by the south pole, when they're clearly equatorial, and probably north of the equator at that.
The swirly white bit above Northrend, on the other hand, is easier to explain as permanent pack ice, similar to the North Pole ice sheet on Earth.
The other explanation to Blizzard's globefail is that if they put all the other continents of Azeroth on it, we'd know where they were, and they'd be nixed for future expansions.

@Fletcher: What's your definition of "equatorial", and what makes STV or Tanaris "clearly" equatorial? I generally think of "equatorial" as meaning the region of the globe between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. I don't think we see anything in Tanaris that wouldn't seem out of place in the middle easy, ala Iran/Iraq, neither of which are equatorial. Indeed, you mention Uldum, which is getting an Egyptian look, and again when you talk about all the famous, iconic parts of Egypt everyone thinks of, none of that is equatorial. I suspect you might also be suffering from the impression that latitude is the most important factor in climate and local temperatures, when in fact although it plays a role, it's far from most significant. Believe me, you'd rather spend the winter in Venice, Italy than Minneapolis, Minnesota, despite the fact that Venice is a bit further north. Ultimately, things like ocean currents and prevailing winds make a much, much larger contribution to the local climate than latitude. Thus, to the best of my knowledge, there's nothing in the game that suggests these regions are equatorial. Their climates and flora/fauna are entirely consistent with lands well south of the Azerothian Tropic of Capricorn.

Ok, doesn't Azeroth have 3 moons?
so why not a 3 moon Worgen t-shirt?

does anyone else notice the discrepancies in quality between the dragons and the planet? besides the questionable design, none of her other work comes close to that level of texture painting.

Except in the description I stated that the image was using WMV images. However, I did paint one if you wanna see it: http://magicalmelonball.deviantart.com/art/Three-Dragon-Azeroth-FIN-175613507
I even have a few WIP shots:
