Call for Submissions: Hot, fresh Breakfast Topics
Sweet -- WoW.com's open for Breakfast Topic submissions again! What's on your mind (and what do you think is on other players' minds) when it comes to the World of Warcraft? Write it up as Breakfast Topic and submit your article for a chance to be published right here on WoW.com.
We're looking for Breakfast Topics in our usual conversational style, asking the community for their thoughts on a WoW-related topic. Submissions should be between 200 and 400 words. (Watch that top end!) We're looking for strong writing in combination with topics that will spark an interesting conversation. Only the best submissions will be accepted.
WoW.com does not accept articles submitted under player names or pen names; please use your full, real name and an actual email address. Please include your email address again at the bottom of your submission. Artwork is not mandatory, but any you choose to include must be your own work or from creative commons.
Unfortunately, the Seed program currently only allows us to accept submissions from individuals living in the United States, as Seed.com accounts currently are not supported by non-US IP addresses. We hope the platform will be closer to readiness for international access later this year. Check seed.com or the Seed blog for updates.
To submit an article, read up about our guest post program, then sign up for Seed. WoW.com articles are not listed among Seed's open category listings; click here to view the assignment and submit your article. (You won't be able to see it unless you have a Seed account.) We'll accept Breakfast Topic submissions for this call-out until 12:00 a.m. EDT on Tues., Aug. 22. If you have additional questions about this assignment, drop us a line at seed@wow.com.
Good luck -- the donuts are on us!

Haha...I knew you guys were messing around with Seed when I got 20 different e-mails today rejecting every thing I've ever submitted (even things you've already posted). :P
lisapoisso Aug 4th 2010 6:09PM
Sorry about that, (cutaia). Evidently, the archiving feature was feeling a wee bit slap-happy. Glad it was fairly obvious that it was a glitch!
Felix_rew Aug 4th 2010 6:08PM
Can't EU people just email their articles?
lisapoisso Aug 4th 2010 6:10PM
Sorry, Felix_rew, then we wouldn't be able to pay you, you wouldn't be in our system ... Bad deal all the way around, I'm afraid.
Felix_rew Aug 4th 2010 6:16PM
Surely having your article is payment in itself?
(Unless you meant that as a joke :P )

Getting a US IP address this days of vpn's and proxies is fairly trivial.
I think there might be legal and IRS implication's that would need to be reviewed for the payments though.
Or in the case of the people not wanting to get paid a form they agree to where they donate the content.

I can almost guarantee you it has something to do with taxes and/or international business laws. There are extra forms and red-tape type things companies have to do when contracting with someone outside their country. It's not too terribly awful or anything, but it does cause a bit of a headache and more work for the accountants and lawyers, which will cost the company more dough to fund. For such relatively minor contract work, it's just not worth that effort, in my humble opinion, which is why it's not available.

Where is Encrypted Text?!
@lisapoisso Isn't there any way to just volunteer your submission so that you don't have to be paid and don't have to go through seed?

^
Having my name and credit for an article on this awesome site is enough payment.

But then they couldn't advertise Seed for the AOL overlords.
ROB13 Aug 4th 2010 6:17PM
That pink donut is the most disgusting donut I have ever seen in my days.
Suite Aug 4th 2010 6:18PM
To be fair, all of them look fairly disgusting.
freyal Aug 4th 2010 6:23PM
and here I was just thinking mmmm doughnuts for no apparent reason. God it's been forever since I had an yummy chocolate doughnut with custard filling.
Naze Aug 4th 2010 9:23PM
And I'm replying to this because I think it looks DELICIOUS.
Drakkenfyre Aug 4th 2010 8:18PM
Jelly-filled donuts beat all.
Noyou Aug 4th 2010 6:23PM
Wait what?
Noyou Aug 4th 2010 6:25PM
-distracted by donuts.
Arbolamante Aug 4th 2010 6:24PM
Mmmmmm, donuts.
Jamie Aug 4th 2010 6:27PM
Okay, I'm moving to America so I can write a breakfast topic...
Which will set me up with the ultimate comment response EVER.
So far I don't see how this plan could fail.
jishdefish Aug 4th 2010 6:39PM
Are we only allowed to write one article for you all? I haven't been able to see any assignments from Wow.com since my article was purchased.
