The Queue: Hey guys, what'd I miss?

"Sorry I'm late, guys, cat was on fire. What'd I miss?
Guys?"
Kavaan asked:
"Has there been any news on whether the old races are getting a much-needed facelift in Cataclysm? It's been a very popular request among players, and while I'm sure there are more pressing concerns among the dev team, I find it hard to believe that it would ignore what so many have asked for."
A Blizzard rep recently stated that remodeling the vanilla races is on their to-do list, though what that means is anyone's guess. I think they do realize that the old races look irredeemably awful compared to worgen and goblins, or even to blood elves and draenei, but we'll almost definitely not see new models for them for Cataclysm.
mageneganova asked:
"What is Tol Barad like? Is it a complete replica of Wintergrasp, or is it something new that no one saw coming? And how well does combining a daily quest hub with a world PvP zone work?"
I see you asking this question every day, and I avoid it just because the answer is this: we just don't know yet. Tol Barad isn't implemented on the beta servers yet. Not a very exciting answer, I'm afraid.
Valt asked:
"What's the situation with deviate fish, Noggenfogger and furbolg rod and every similar transform tools? I heard rumors all of them have been removed from the game due either to oversights, quest deleting or the fact that world was redesigned so much that, for example, Wailing Caverns waters don't have deviate ... yet. Do I have to stack guild banks full of deviate fish and banks full of Noggen for special occasions?"
Deviate fish -- and by extension, Savory Deviate Delight -- are still in the game. Noggenfogger Elixir can be purchased by anyone in Gadgetzan for a very small fee. Dartol's Rod of Transformation now only works in Ashenvale.

"Dartol's Rod of Transformation now only works in Ashenvale."
Well that's just worthless.
havitech Aug 4th 2010 11:20AM
Did they try that once before? And they went back and undid the change because it upset so many people.
Everyone to the forums! NOW!
ANeM Aug 4th 2010 11:52AM
Actually, Dartols rod of transformation still works outside of ashenvale
The problem is however, the quest no longer gives you "Dartols rod of transformation" Rather it gives you "Dartols Rod" which is restricted to Ashenvale.
Currently the Vanilla Rod still functions as it always has.

First I find out that Old Blanchy is dead, now this?
What the hell, Blizzard. What the hell.
New changes for Cataclysm: Dark Iron Boot Flask only useable in Storm Peaks. Traveler's Tundra Mammoth only summonable in Northrend. All mini pets have been removed from the game.
Alchemistmerlin Aug 4th 2010 11:59AM
I always wonder what goes on in the board room when Blizzard makes decisions that do nothing but make the game less fun.
I mean, is there honestly someone in that room who goes "This takes nothing away from the game, adds a fun thing for people to do, and is generally enjoyed by the populace...let's delete it."
rockinroll Aug 4th 2010 12:15PM
Maybe it's more like:
"Guys, I have been seeing some people using Dartol's Rod outside of Ashenvale. That is not how it's supposed to be! Change it! NOW!"
Ves Aug 4th 2010 12:28PM
1: Restrict the Rod to Ashenvale
2: Have the Timbermaw vendor sell an item that turns you into a Furbolg at Exalted
3: Everyone is happy. Especially me, as a Hordie.
TamChronin Aug 4th 2010 12:47PM
@Ves
I love that idea, and was just thinking something similar. I'd grind old world reps for something like that! I haven't really bothered, so far.
Slaytanic Aug 4th 2010 1:09PM
I seriously don't understand why they would make this change. That device is so much fun for so many people.
Tribunal Aug 4th 2010 1:26PM
But yes, if you still have the old rod, it still works everywhere. Hopefully this will not change come cata, but I could see it doing so :(

One of the weirdest changes I've seen from a PTR to a live realm was changing the pink rabbit non-combat pet from Noblegarden to a normal looking rabbit. Apparently, pink rabbits are OP?
Eddy Aug 4th 2010 2:42PM
...I don't remember the Noblegarden rabbit ever being pink. o.O

Scene: Blizzard Boardroom
Blizzard Director 1) Hey guys, people like turning into a Furbolg, we can't have that. Let's delete the item.
Blizzard Director 2) Hey I've got a better idea, lets make the quest item only work in Ashenvale, and then later on release a furbolg costume in our cash shop. That's sure to make us an extra few millions.
Hih Aug 4th 2010 4:21PM
Dartol's Rod has been undeniable proof that Blizzard prefers Alliance over Horde. I'm glad to see it go away.
Zakarii Aug 4th 2010 5:01PM
I could possibly be more concerned if I played Alliance, but frankly, it's kind of annoying to get camped by a level 80 Furbolg Paladin in Hillsbrad.
I suppose Alliance players will just have to learn to live without being able to transform into a Furbolg. The horror!
Gilgamesh Aug 4th 2010 5:17PM
Alchemistmerlin: That man would be Bobby Kotick.
Vaeku Aug 4th 2010 6:08PM
Or maybe, just maybe, the furbolg will be a new race in the future. Kinda like how that worg/worgen thing in Northrend was tameable and they removed it, and then the thing with the halloween masks. Maybe they're restricting it like this for down the road, when furbolgs will be a new race. Which would be awesome.
One can only hope.
Amberm Aug 4th 2010 6:35PM
@Hih
Yep soooo totally favors the Alliance... because we all know they would never have a Horde statue in front of the headquarters or anything!

@ANeM Having literally just done this questline on yet another alt i have no idea where you got that info from. You still get Dartol's Rod of Transformation and it works fine outside of Ashenvale, for now at least.
Pheonah Aug 4th 2010 11:06AM
Booooooo to Dartol's Rod of Transformation now only working in Ashenvale.
