WoW Moviewatch: If You Gank Me Again
The video for If You Gank Me Again is pretty spot-on for the material and keeps pace with the music fairly well. The voices feel a little muddled to me, but I think that's just the style. (Timbaland's voice was autotuned in If We Ever Meet Again, so in that sense, the cover singers were staying true to the original.) I like seeing Nation and Jennisfar collaborate, though, and I'm pretty sure that some of the video's rough spots are probably just from a new group collaborating for the first time.

Dude. Best audio I've heard in a wow-video in a LONG TIME. Great production! I want more!!

Just to comment on the audio, as much as it seems cliche to blame youtube for the vocal issues... you can always go download all of the originals at http://www.jennisfar.com/download/
Hope you enjoy the video!
Thanks again!

Well made video but wasn't exactly fond of how the voices/characters got mixed. Having the female voice who sings about gankin nubs all the time suddenly sing that SHE'll get on her main if SHE's ganked again.... huh? I get it that probably in the original song the female singer sang at those parts, but here it doesn't make sense, with this text.
Also, pretty much the only time we see those often mentioned mains and guildies it's Alliance guys, when an Alliance is doing the ganking all the time..... Oo
A little consistency would have helped a lot there.
Little something on ganking, not the video - that's just why I hate those f*ckers.
They pretty much want to ruin your gametime, or have you log off. For all they know you had a shitty day a work, something bad happened that day, and so on, and you just wanna think of something else, distract yourself with the game, have a fun time, away from RL shit - and then such an a**hole comes along and ruins your game as well because they feel it's fun to ruin other people's playtime.
Damn I hate them...

Agreed about the consistency. It was a little confusing, especially since I was all built up for a big struggle or epic fight scene to help me sort out who was really the ganker, and got...more shots of a human female in a Goldshire outfit dancing next to an orc dressed in bank alt gear. It was fun at first, but when a song tells far more of a story than the visuals, it's a little distracting.
Don't get me wrong, though. This was a great production all around on the technical aspects, and I love the nods to Yumfries at the end. This is definitely going in my favorites.

Yea the visuals were a bit confusing because the human is ganking the orc but yet she says that she'll get on her main and get her guildies if she keeps being ganked yet shes doing the ganking. So yea pretty muddled up. But other than that not bad for a first collaboration.

The video was a lot of fun and very well done, and the vocal performances on the song were excellent :)
OTOH, the one problem I had with this is the same problem I've had with any number of other parodies of "dance music" songs (whether they be hip-hop, R&B, or whatever style): repetitious lyrics. The song was pretty much "done" after the first couple minutes, and after that it was the same thing over and over. The thing is, "dance" music is meant for dancing, not so much for kicking back and listening to, and so lyrics aren't that big a deal. But a parody song, of any style, is meant to be listened to, simply because the humor is the point.
So my suggestion for song parodists: just because the original song repeats the same lines over and over doesn't mean you have to in your parody. Would you listen to a standup comedian who stood there and told the same joke over and over?
Also, the annotations on the vid covered up the dialog bubbles of the gnome and draenei at the end, so I missed the jokes there.

Nice one. This is the second wow song I've ever liked.
How get/where are those party lights available? Never seen anything like that in the game before.

See, now THIS is a good movie. Good lyrics, good singing, excellent content and editing. Two thumbs up!

Mixed faction super dance party looks fun :3

What's wrong with liking Katy Perry, exactly?

I like how she pronounces nub as "nub" instead of "noob." Irony ftw n.n
Zil Aug 4th 2010 1:37PM
No. Despite its origins from "noob," "nub" is indeed pronounced "nub." The joke was that someone was SO noobish that they couldn't even pronounce "noob" right.

Frankly, I laugh at people who pronounce "nub" as "noob". Obviously they're two different words.
iammurlocftw Aug 4th 2010 1:40PM
there may have been a yumfries reference but i think that draenie boobs hurt line was also a turpster reference, with or without the maker knowing it
wutsconflag Aug 4th 2010 3:16PM
Well, that video was kinda neat. Not sure I liked the overuse of the lighthouse beam, but that's really my only complaint.
Dreyja Aug 4th 2010 3:42PM
I am really impressed with this one. It was visually creative and Jennisfar has a lovely voice that wasn't auto-tuned all to Hades. I LOVED that the main characters were an Orc and a human which is refreshing to say the least.
When it started and I realized it was a dance parody I was very afraid but it was really REALLY well done and entertaining to the end.
As for the inconsistencies it is meant to be a music video more than a story. I just chalked it up to that. It hints at the story but I don't expect it to be consistent, I mean they have a big dance par-tah in the arena. We aren’t going for logic here
Two thumbs WAY up. Though I have to say that I still think Cranius' "Gonna Get My Main" is the winner for this theme. But they can share glory. :)

Loved it! Sweet production, awesome video, great vocals!
...I would have liked it better if the ganker got swarmed by all the guy's guildies at the end though. But I am a vindictive little snot.
Kilseker Aug 4th 2010 6:43PM
The audio wasn't as bad as I was expecting from the caption. They really made themselves look like Timbaland and Katy Perry so that made me enjoy it even more. Great parody.
