Call for Submissions: Going on a scavenger hunt

WoW.com is accepting article submissions on in-game scavenger hunts for all types of guilds, groups and players. We're looking for lists (and details) of fresh ideas with events designed for lowbies, mixed levels, endgame raiders, crafters, PvPers, roleplayers, old-world instance runners ... Give us your most creative, engaging ideas. Be specific with instructions and goals, and include plenty of Wowhead links on items, quests, zones and NPCs.
Submissions should run between 750 and 1,000 words. We will not accept articles submitted under player names or pen names; please use your full, real name and email. Please include your email address again at the bottom of your article in the body of your submission. Links should be included as full URLs in the body of the copy; no active links, please. Artwork is not mandatory, but any you choose to include must be work of your own or from Creative Commons.
Unfortunately, the Seed program currently only accommodates submissions from individuals living in the United States, and we are not accepting submissions outside of the Seed service. We hope to make international submissions available at some point in the future; check Seed.com for updates.
To submit an article, read up about our guest post program, then sign up for Seed. WoW.com articles are not listed among Seed's open category listings; click here to view the assignment and submit your article. (You won't be able to see it unless you have a Seed account.) We'll accept submissions for this assignment until 11:59 p.m. EDT on Thurs., Aug. 12. Good luck and good writing!

The timing on this couldn't be more perfect. I'm throwing together a Scavenger Hunt for my guild's One Year Anniversary on September 1st and was looking for ideas. Hope the article's out by then!

I've run about three or four scavenger hunts for our guild in the past three years, complete with some really fun items on it (find someone with a Brewfest mount), as well as some amazingly creative entries. (Last summer, when someone couldn't find an item they created an alt with the item name to mail their other character, and brought the letter!) We even had someone go out and grab an alt to desperately level fishing so she could complete the Nat's Fishing Pole quest, never realizing that if you just trained fishing after the 3.1 patch you could go talk to Nat and he'd give you a pole without doing the quest. ;) Good times indeed!
That said though...while I'd be happy to post some of our previous lists, methods we consider how to pull items, and some of the crazy (yet attainable) items we've come up with - the thought of looking 50 items up on WoWHead and getting links for each makes me green at the gills. So no entry here, but best of luck to the entrants and I can't wait to read the results!

I was just starting on a screenshot scavenger hunt idea when this topic appeared! Can't wait to see the responses!

I did a scavenger hunt with my guild sometime last year. I often throw together guild events and this was one of the favorites. It was comprised of collect five in game items and turning them into me at the same time. But in order to find the items, you had to solve riddles and puzzles to figure out what item it was I required. The items could be obtained by any class and any race, so you didn't need a specific tradeskill. It helped to be 80, but you could team with someone and split the prize at the end. I didn't give out any hints or clues other than the provided puzzles, but I encouraged the use of other people and websites such as wowhead and wowwiki.

I really hope they get Seed opened up to the rest of the world soon. Is it really so hard to support other IP addresses??

Do you want the solutions to the hunt too?

I suspect if you do a great job linking to items and quests, that'll mean the solutions are already included.

Hero Squad on Bleeding Hollow just started our first scavenger hunt tonight. The officers and I put together a list of 100 screenshots they have to take over the next week and a half. It gets a little more complex as far as how you earn points based on screenshots, which SS's are repeatable, and what time of the day you take the screenshot. The winners of this game, plus our second game "find the guild officer" will be able to select an item from the sealed chest Shadowmourne event when we craft our first one on the 17th.
The competition started tonight and already most of the guild is running around the world to get their tasks completed. Great success thus far.
All of the rules and details can be read on the front page of the guild site.

I hope this is all right to ask here. I was just wondering if there had or could be an article about many of the fun, flavor type gear and items available in the game, that people might want to get before Cataclysm launches.
Like, the Piccolo of the Flaming Fire trinket from Strat, that does nothing but cause nearby players to dance. Or, the First Mate Hat, which is a rare drop in STV. I'd love to go on a hunt for these type of fun items, but I just don't know many of them that are currently in the game. I usually only find them by accident. Or, I'll occasionally have one mentioned to me by another player and then go on a hunt for it.
it would be awesome to have a long list of neat items, like the ones above. Thanks so much!

So apparently asking about Seed gets your post deleted. Snazzy.

Nevermind, blond moment. Downrank please :)
