The Queue: [Reins of the Rusted Santadrake]

Winter Veil traditions are a little different in Deepholm. Here, a big rusted protodrake delivers consumables to good boys and girls, and devours the naughty ones outright. I know, you'd think the elemental plane of earth would have coal somewhere in there, but no.
Garneth asked:
"Will WoW.com do any beta invite giveaways like Tentonhammer and some other sites?"
WoW.com is not an official fansite and thus doesn't participate in fansite beta key giveaways. If we do get some to give away, we'll certainly keep you posted.
Razion asked:
"Are there any in-game references to any of the WoW.com staff?"
Michael Belfast, the second NPC you encounter in Culling of Stratholme (after Chromie), is named after me (and my forum alter ego, Belfaire), but I worked at Blizzard at the time of his creation, not WoW.com.
It was an amazing gift.
Valorum asked:
"Do you have to have an active subscription to get a beta invite? I'm not currently subscribing, so I haven't been optimistic, but a friend who hasn't been active in over a year says he got an invite."
Nope, your account needn't be active to receive a beta invite.
Susan asked:
"Any word from the beta on the promised daily quests for other professions like jewelcrafting has now?"
Yep. Fishing and cooking have daily quests at the moment that not only award you gold but also skill-ups! Expect to see similar quests for other professions.
Grovinofdarkhour asked:
"Dear The Queue,
Isn't it about time for a (clean) WoW Limerick Contest?
Thanks,
Grovin"
Let's give it a test run in the comments.

Why isn't Wow.com an official fan site?
Boom Aug 6th 2010 11:07AM
Because then they would be restricted in what they could and couldn't say about WoW and Blizzard in general.
Noah Aug 6th 2010 11:20AM
Also because in fansite requirements, the website is supposed to be "completed" and a blog is never completed.
Jamie Aug 6th 2010 12:17PM
Complete this!!!
Adam Holisky Aug 6th 2010 12:37PM
Boom is correct. There's really nothing else to the decision.
Grovinofdarkhour Aug 6th 2010 12:46PM
Because "Official Fan Site" should really be called, "Official Fanboy Site", and when Blizzard does something amazingly stupid, like say, I dunno... announce they're going to require real names on every forum post, WoW.com retains the freedom to say, "That's amazingly Stupid!" and go into diatribes about all 42,893 ways it's stupid, while Official Fanboy Sites can't say anything stronger than, "This recent announcement seems to have generated a variety of strong opinions on all sides."

@Grovin
That didn't stop Ciderhelm posting the new article "RealID -- Unethical and Dangerous " (http://www.tankspot.com/showthread.php?68744-RealID-Unethical-and-Dangerous) when it was first announced, and tankspot is an official fansite. Although you're right, they do need to stick to certain rules, some official fansite owners will still stick their necks out for things they believe in.

That's because when he went through the nut-detector at the security checkpoint, Ciderhelm did that thing where he kinda tossed his nuts to himself just outside the gate, walked through, and caught them in the same hand, so they didn't set off the nut detector, and stuck 'em back in his pocket real fast without anyone noticing. So he made it into the Fanboy Sites club, but he still has a pair.

Ciderhelm would kick Chuck Norris in the beanbag.
Jiffah Aug 6th 2010 5:39PM
I'm not 100% sure, but I think fan sites needs to be independent. WoW.com is property of AOL. I could be wrong.

Question for the Queue:
Is it too soon to ask for another live beta stream?
Burninate Aug 10th 2010 7:56PM
Too soon, Executus, too soon.
Brett Porter Aug 6th 2010 1:11PM
Oh good lord, too soon, at least if their current stability is anything like mine. I was finally able to login last night, while still patching, and the lag was just cry my eyes out bad.
Others said they aren't having similar problems, but I was late on the patching process anyways. I logged in today before work, where it said 100% but 4.1 GB left to install.... logged in and everything took a bit to render.
Currently not playable, and I don't think many folks wanna watch that, again if they are experiencing the same issues as me.
flawless Aug 6th 2010 2:06PM
I was able to log in at about 10-20%, and it was streaming just fine. Some things took a few seconds to load, and had some problems in Deepholm, but elsewhere was fine.
Anne Stickney Aug 6th 2010 5:24PM
Yes and no - the beta has been really unstable, we're talking the World Server going down fairly regularly, so a live stream at this point would be kind of irritating to those watching.
...this does not mean I am not going to try and do it again, soon.
Korey Aug 6th 2010 6:30PM
Wow.com's sister site, Massively, has done a couple live streams now, and I know if you search around the blogosphere there are a few bloggers doing the same thing, myself included.

Most of the WoW background music is beautiful stuff. However, the WotLK official OST doesn't include music from the Ulduar, Call of the Crusade and Fall of the Lich King expansions. Is Blizzard ever going to release an updated OST, or is there a way to get my hands on the music some other way? The Argent Tournament stuff is just fantastic...
Vrykerion Aug 6th 2010 11:26AM
Considering the Burning Crusade soundtrack had the tracks for AQ and Naxx, it's possible that the Cataclysm soundtrack will have some of those songs.
Drakkenfyre Aug 6th 2010 11:27AM
The other soundtracks don't contain all of the music, either. You don't have Quel'Danas on the Burning Crusade soundtrack, for example. Or the Argent Tournament on the other soundtrack. So to answer your question, no.
Orkchop Aug 6th 2010 11:54AM
The music for Call of the Crusade and Secrets of Ulduar was released in at BlizzCon '09 on a soundtrack CD called World of Warcraft: Mosaic. It also has Karazhan and Brewfest!
