Wrath and its easy peasy rotations and infinite mana regen and massive threat boosts is already too hard for half the so-called "raiders" out there still struggling on the first 6 bosses in ICC with 30% buff. Cataclysm is shaping up to be so beyond their capacity, it is going to result in a massive reduction in tanks & healers and then a steady decline in subscribers as people get sick of wiping in normal dungeons.
Remember, this is the first expansion where Ghostcrawler is a lead developer. The people who turned this game into an 11.5 million strong subscriber base are all on the new MMO and next Starcraft (Diablo is a different studio within Blizzard). GC has a hardcore mentality and feels the game should be harder for casuals and easier for hardcore players. So many of the talents are designed such that a skilled player hits for a lot more damage, heals for a lot more, generates much more threat and loses a lot less mana if they click things in the perfect order to generate the most stacks of whatever gimmick resource on top of mana they invented for each class.
The casual players will not understand these things and wonder why they are having such a hard time with the game (causing them to be even further ostracized).
I would not be surprised if a huge reversal took place in the first content patch and the game made much easier again to keep the massive casual audience from defecting to Old Republic.
