Nub Tales ep. 6.2: How 2 BE Raps is going to be a favorite of mine for a long, long time. Not only does it have the same kind of tongue-in-cheek humor to which we are accustomed, but it also features Yumfries' own skill with mixing and making music. And just to make this even more epic, it features Gigi. No, really, Gigi did a guest spot in a parody of belf rap.
I continue to love Yumfries and his work with Nub Tales. The series is focused on both the game of WoW and the community that surrounds it. This combination makes the series a little more interesting than if it were just slamming Blizzard all that time; you get a good sense of involvement and interaction. Gigi often gets a bad rap (get it?), so I think it's a huge gesture of class that she appeared in this video. Hopefully it might a few critics of her work a little less vitriolic to see that she's willing to laugh at herself.
Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at machinima@wow.com.
While normally I've come to expect good quality from Yumfries. . . well, this just didn't really do it for me. Although, on another hand, I have a huge bias towards BE rap, and probably took it far too seriously than it should have been.
Furthermore, are you trying to game Google search rankings for machinima or something with those tags? This is far from a WoW movie guide. You didn't even critique the video!
Here goes: Wow! I've been gone from Moviewatch for almost 2 years and Gigi's singing and rapping skills *still* haven't improved. Also, if they're going to zoom in on the characters, they really need to film in higher res that that. The video quality wasn't consistent at all throughout the whole video. I realize that this is a parody, but that doesn't mean the production quality should be just as bad...
I don't see the words 'movie guide' anywhere on here... except in the tags and I've already interpreted that as a guide to recent videos, so that you're not the last one in your guild to see video XYZ.
There's an infered level of quality, yes, by being featured here, however, there IS only so many new machinima being posted... and not every video can be "omg, double 5 stars FOREVER"!
As for the tags.. uh... do you pay attention? EVERY article on wow.com has a similar looking list of tags.
and be nice... The video's variable visual quality is part of it's point. It's an intentional depiction of how to make a 'cool video' by someone who doesn't have a clue. To NOT do this would have been like using a steady cam to film footage that was supposed to have been shot by a buncha teenagers goofing around with a camera in a movie.
Of course I've looked around at the tags. Moviewatch used to be my column before I went to work for machinima.com. We didn't have to use tags like movie guide back then, so uhh yeah I pay attention. Like totally!!!!! *eyeroll*
But of course, I must have forgotten the essential step in replying: check the tags to see if the person I'm replying to has ever written the column I'm commenting on! How stupid of me! Alas, I have fallen into this trap so many times before, what folly of mine to have done this once again!
.... Geeze, dude. Lay off. Not all of us have been reading wow.com religiously for years (and I mean no slight in that), and certaintly, not all of us remember who used to write what articles....
Anyway... regarding tags once again, things change. Maybe they didn't used tags like this back then but they do NOW, and they HAVE since.... hm... a quick look at the movie watch tags shows that between June 12, 2009 and june 15, 2009 they started adding a considerably larger number of tags... and a very quick look back at the regular posts of that time, shows that some have a large number of tags, and others not so much... suggesting that this change was a site-wide decision and not JUST moviewatch.
However... why the heck are you complaining about the tags? They don't DETRACT from anything, and instead HELP to find relevant information, and help peopel to find wow.com, thus increasing readership, etc. Maybe they're a bit unneeded on this post, but in general? it's not a bad thing... and... no one is forcin' ya to read it, to put it bluntly.
I didn't really like this one. While it's touted as a Belf rap parody, it fell flat. It felt like it was going to build up to a decent parody that made some humorous jabs to relate to the criticisms of said genre. But I think it really just inserted randomness that didn't relate to it much at all. Who knows, maybe it's a jab at those that jab at Belf rap... I hope it's not that complicated of a message.
That said, it was funny to see a Horde player rapping about pwning themselves.

How fitting, Gigi's a joke anyway. >.>
Chubz Aug 10th 2010 4:28PM
Why is that?

I, like many others, dislike her music.
She has one of those voices that makes me cringe.

There's a new episode of Raid Eats up.
But I guess more belf rap (even parody) is...fine too.
I wonder if it's possible for WoWMoviewatch to go a month without posting a belfrap video. It'd be an interesting challenge.

Wait, Gigi parodying Blood Elf rap, and in a video that doesn't suck? Never thought I would see that.

You break my heart, Michael Gray! Belf rap and Gigi in one day? That video was horrible!

I sincerely think "horrible" is the biggest understatement possible on this. I don't see how this thing even comes close to meriting a feature... :-\

It was okay, but I've seen better Nub Tales videos.
