HH - I would love to know why GC is comparing one of our AoE heals to Healing Hands, how about we compare it to Healing Rains. Should not both of these spells be similar with major difference being that Healing Rains is targetable?

I was responding to a poster who said that Healing Hands healed for the same as Healing Stream totem, which was a statement somewhere in between incorrect and trying to incite paladin players.
Quote:
Comparing Healing Hands to HEALING STREAM TOTEM of all things is very very insulting in my opinion. I'd like to see it compared to real heals, perhaps like Healing Rain, Holy Nova, or just about anything other than Healing Stream Totem. Very insulting to put both of them in the same sentence when talking about numbers.

I don't have much interest in playing the "I'm insulted" game. If you want to talk about game design or share your feedback on the classes, I'm all ears. If you want to gripe about the developers, I'm going to spend my time on other threads.
Ghostcrawler -- Warlock informationFear -- we might add a glyph that slows feared targets to make extra adds less of a risk.
Drain Life -- you should still cast Shadow Bolt as Affliction when you don't need to refresh dots, etc.
Hellfire -- you still must channel it (meaning you can't cast other spells), but you can move while channeling.
Seed of Corruption -- Unless you raid Patchwek and Golemagg a lot, AEs aren't just for trash anymore.
Doom Guard and Infernal -- I don't think we'll reach the point where your damage scales poorly because your long-term cooldowns don't scale well with gear. We're not against scaling their stats. I'm just not sure it will have a noticeable effect.
Soul Harvest -- It's basically a Drain Soul that can be used when there are no souls around. As we've said before, we'd prefer to balance warlocks around average encounter length. Once we provide a way to get shards back in combat, we are concerned that locks will blow their shards on cooldown, and then be unhappy when they have to go into lower dps-mode to generate the shards back. If the model just doesn't work without infinite / renewable shards, then we'll change it, but it's far to early to know whether that is the case.
--
The basic Affliction "boss rotation" should still be something like UA -> Corruption -> Bane of Agony -> Haunt -> Shadow Bolt. Haunt refreshes your Corruption through Endless Affliction. Nightfall procs Shadow Bolts. When the target is wounded, you can switch to Drain Soul.
On faster fights, you can go Corruption -> Shadow Bolt -> Drain Soul, or even Shadow Bolt / Searing Pain for very fast fights.
When you need to run you can use Fel Flame.
The general DPCT should be something like this (off the top of my head, so this may not be perfect): Drain Soul (wounded), UA, Bane of Agony, Bane of Doom, Corruption, Haunt, Shadow Bolt, Incinerate, Drain Life, Drain Soul (not wounded).
Most of the Drain Life stuff in the talent tree is to support PvP, leveling or when you need health.
This is all work in progress of course, and not etched in stone.

Ghostcrawler -- Glyphs in CataclysmQuote:
Hopefully you are talking about this being a minor glyph if it is, in fact, implemented. If I have to blow a major glyph spot on something like this for PvE CC, its no where near worth it. PvP is a different story though.

Bigger topic, but minor glyphs are almost always cosmetic / convenience features for Cataclysm. The big distinction is between prime glyphs (unambiguous dps increases) and major glyphs (utility, survival or very hard to math out dps increases). Under that model, affecting Fear is probably a major.
While we probably won't change every glyph, there is a chance we might, so I ask players not to focus too much on the current LK glyphs.

I was on the yacht at the time, so I took a guess, but I verified this morning that the [warlock DPS order] order I posted was correct. Note that I am talking about Cataclysm, not current LK prioritization.

Not as effective as, "I was dead at the time..." Do it better Ghostcrawler.

I am excite, because you are and should be excite.

I have a feeling this column should be renamed: The Occasional Blues.
V Magius Aug 12th 2010 11:44AM
You only say that because it's been three weeks since the last Daily Blue.
It might be best to change it over to a weekly article, just on the assumption that there might be a day that blue's don't say anything or anything worthwhile.
kasapina Aug 12th 2010 1:00PM
The "once every full moon" blues?
If it is changed to a weekly, they will either have to filter many of the posts (not good), or post a looooooong (7 "o"s) article.
nekorion Aug 12th 2010 1:04PM
I'm for the title. Blue moon blue posts ;D
Mr. Tastix Aug 12th 2010 4:42PM
I'd go for Blue Moon Blue posts, too. This column is even considered apart of their "Daily Features".
I'm sorry, from July 22nd to August 12th may be one day to you, but I've had 21 days since then.
Mr. Tastix Aug 12th 2010 4:44PM
Also note you could be cheap and just go and copy the blue posts MMO-Champion posts on their main site, most of the blue posts they post are related to Cataclysm and it's mechanic/gameplay changes.
I mean sure, some may consider this a "cheap" method but it'd be handy for the people who don't actively use MMO-Champion or who have never heard of it (and I'm sure there's a lot).
erictapley Aug 12th 2010 5:16PM
I agree. I was very excited about this when it came out - I tend to catch up on my WoW news once or twice a day, and it was nice to have this recap in one place (I don't go to MMO Champion or other WoW news sites regularly). Now, however, it's more of a laugh when I see this up... "Oh, ha ha ha! I'd forgotten that column existed!"

Reading some of the forums I start to wish they wouldn't spoil so much Cata information. I mean yeah spoilers are great, but when you have forums full of people that bitch and moan about minor details that that aren't even close to being finished yet and you have to waste a blue post on them....it's just sickening.
What's worse is some of these cryers that have beta invites. If they are in beta and can't find anything better to do than bitch about how much Healing Hands is healing for, I say kick them the fuck out and give their invite to somebody who will be more constructive.
Kylenne Aug 12th 2010 1:21PM
Complaining about this strikes me as being mad that the sky is blue. Seriously--this is the WoW forum community. The WoW forum community is the whiniest, wankiest fandom in gaming. They will bitch and complain about anything and everything. They'll bitch and complain if the Blues say nothing. They'll bitch and complain if the Blues tell them everything to the last detail. Take away their beta invites and they'll bitch and complain about that. Give beta invites to everyone and they'll bitch and complain. Seriously, that's just how this community is, and no matter how irritating it gets to slog through in order to find the good posts, no amount of handwringing by anyone is ever going to change that. You might as well tell Blizzard not to have public betas at all, at that rate (which would also set off epic wanking).
Pyromelter Aug 12th 2010 2:22PM
/agree Kylenne.
I especially love how people complain about how easy wow is, and yet the most vocal people are never the ones who are pushing in top 100 guilds doing heroic/hardmodes. People do indeed whine about everything in wow.
Mr. Tastix Aug 12th 2010 4:47PM
How about you two stop bitching and complaining? I AM BITCHING AND COMPLAINING, SO STFU!
All jokes aside, I agree. If you don't like the information that the blues are posting then here's a tip: Stop reading them.
"OH, BUT MEESTA TASTIX, DAT IS SO HARD!"
No, it's not. Get over yourself. I'm sure there's a lot more people who want to read the information then those who don't, and those who don't, as aforementioned, can ignore the selected posts.
zdave Aug 12th 2010 5:35PM
I know that complaining about their complaining is slightly ironic. I get it. But that just because people have always and will always whine doesn't mean it should be tolerated. Tell somebody to just ignore it is not the worst idea, but it's far from the best.
Kylenne I could see you in Europe, circa WW2, just telling everybody, "Look, the Germans are invading, there's nothing you can do about it, so you might as well get used to it and brush up on your german cuisine."
Noyou Aug 12th 2010 5:56PM
Preach it brother. As for the people who think wow is easy- I'd be willing to bet that most of them let their wow accounts drop for months at a time and have no idea about what fun is. If that makes me a "casual" so be it. I don't pay $15 a month to be at the top of any dps/heals chart. I will disagree with you about the spoiler thing though my friend. If you are in a wow forum on cata then you have to assume that certain cata details will be revealed.
It is sad that GC has to be disturbed on his boat though, er yacht. Sorry.
Diedemus Aug 12th 2010 1:10PM
Insert "I'm on a boat" joke here
dodgeballer2005 Aug 12th 2010 1:12PM
And that's why they call it the Blues...
Noyou Aug 12th 2010 6:00PM
Wait, I read that wrong! I first read it and "I guess that's why they call it the blues..." (Elton John) popped into my head. So I upvoted. If that's what you meant good job! Well good job anyway for making music in my head! :p
