Cataclysm Beta: Guild vendor armor, pets, mounts and more

See that dark phoenix pictured above? Want one for your very own? Wondering where to get it? Wonder no more -- with the latest patch drop on the Cataclysm beta servers, this mount is listed as a guild reward that you may purchase from the guild reward vendor located in the capital city of your respective faction. On top of the gorgeous dark phoenix, plenty of other amazing items have been added to the vendor. Recipes, pets, a ground mount that is unique to your faction -- and for those wondering where we'd get our level 85 heirlooms from, they're on the vendor, as well.
Take a look at the gallery below for a peek at what the guild vendor has to offer. Please note the heirlooms reflect both level 1 stats as well as stats for my character's current level, 83. As for prices on the items, don't get your hopes up -- as with everything on the beta, these are subject to change at any time.

Did I see Heirloom Helms on there?!
Seniri Aug 13th 2010 11:49PM
And cloaks!
Drakkenfyre Aug 14th 2010 12:06AM
I see they removed the reference off the Stoneskin Gargoyle cloak.
They could have gone with "This cape is older and more gold than your average cloak or cape."
Ok, not really.

I'm sure the mount may cause some amount of nerd rage, but I'm kinda happy it's a guild reward, most likely exalted status.
Also. heirloom helms and backs? very nice
Delphenus Aug 13th 2010 11:48PM
Hm, if it's a guild mount, does that mean everyone in the guild gets one? Or just that that particular guild has chosen the Dark Phoenix as it's guild mount?
Enthis_17 Aug 13th 2010 11:49PM
I think you get guild rep and you can buy it for you and only you.
at least I think that's how the method works

I'm sure it's an exalted at max guild level item.
most likely it will also be the new gold sink, it will also become the second coolest mount in game (in my opinion) after ashes of a'lar but more popular =P (although the phoenix will be farmed like zulian tigers at 85)
eat your heart out sparkle pony =P

It requires the guild to get a hard achievement, then anyone with the right reputation (probably exalted) can buy it. It will be pretty rare and can only be found among those hardcore players in hardcore guilds.

Oh boy. Alliance colors on armor for every guild's flier. Welcome to the new Sparkle Pony.

Oh and hey - that's where that [PH] Thunder Lizard Mount came from. I bet that'll be cool.

Cauldrons are raid flasks like a fish feast.

The new phoenix mount is such a disgrace. The original Ashes of A'lar mount was put in the game for the child that was diagnosed with the life-threatening illness who visited Blizzard HQ and has since past away. That should be the only Phoenix mount, and it's just unbelievable that now anyone who gets some guild rep will be able to have a purple (armored) one.
Drakkenfyre Aug 14th 2010 12:08AM
Ashes of A'lar was meant to go in the game before Ezra Chatterton visited Blizzard for his wish. He was given the first one, but the mount was not made for him.
Aaron Hoffman Aug 14th 2010 12:13AM
Actually, the way you seem to play fast and loose with facts is the only disgrace I see.
Esra 'Ephoenix' Chatterton was given the world's first Ashes of A'lar because it tied so closely to his character name. The only things that Ezra actually put in the game were the Ahab Wheathoof questline and the Merciless Gladiator's Crossbow of the Phoenix.
After Ezra passed away in 2008, Blizzard commemorated him once again by renaming Elder Proudhorn in Thunder Bluff, Elder Ezra Wheathoof.

You know what, I'm kinda sick of heirlooms. It's just getting silly now. I've got the Heirloom ring, so with the current shoulders and chests and these new helms and cloaks, I get what, a 40% boost to the XP I earn? Do I even want that anymore?
With all the major improvements to the Old World questing, and the changes to talents, I feel like leveling is going to be incredibly fun at low levels, rather than a chore I feel the need to burn through as quickly as possible.
Add to that that suddenly every single low level warrior or mage all now look nearly identical, and it just feels a little much.
The mounts look cool (heck yeah Thunder Lizards and dark phoenices), but I might just give those heirlooms a pass.

the nice thing about heirlooms is it gives us that choice. Rather than Blizz once again buffing XP gains from questing, they simply gave older players access to heirlooms to make leveling alts less painful. Face it, after a couple of toons go through the new 1-60, we'll be ready to start burning through it, again. Plus, hey, 40% faster getting out of Outland and into Northrend.
