Not much else to say here, folks -- here's your new login screen music in Cataclysm. Twelve minutes of pure epic, with themes from vanilla and every expansion afterward. Lots of references to the original login music starting at 1:30.
The music is good, don't get me wrong...but you gotta focus on what it is used for, a load up login screen.
Listen to the first 15 seconds over and over and over and still tell me they did a good job / or it's still appropriate; because that's all you're going to hear.
Second point...I was really hoping with this expac they'd provide a theme selector. Personally, I am not a fan of the blue screen dragon rroooaarrrr with WotLK and liked BC more. I wish I could choose a login theme...that's all I'm saying.
Wrath of the Lich King music is a lot better than this, to me. It has that unexplainable feeling to it, kinda when you watch the Lich King or any other 2 trailers. IMO, blizzard should work on this, there are no more epic trailers to watch over and over again, music sounds like it's just empty etc.
Nothing to do with the expansion, it's great, just saying that the touching music and videos needs to come back.
Like the new version of the WoW opening suite.. especially the choral parts Only one complaint and it's similar to one I've always had. The music is always such a loud piece at login it gets annoying. Doubly so if it's the middle of the night and the kids are finally asleep, or you have paper thin walls. I find myself muting my speakers already thanks to Sindragosa on the current login. I honestly would love a silent login and save pieces like this for the intro cinematics. I like the way not only did the intermix all the old themes though , they framed them with epic brass, and even intermixed their Titan themes.
Cheers to Jason Hayes for the original theme, and cheers to Russell Brower and his team for this suite.
Surprised there aren't more Final Fantay fanboys in here spouting the praises of Nobuo Uematsu. I saw a few rated down. Seriously though the composers for Blizz and him are in a class of their own. Nobuo is more of a character theme composer, and can't touch the epic feel of Blizz' work as far as environmental and storytelling themes. Whereas the few characters in the story of WoW that have their own theme don't really measure up to the feeling of say, Shadow's theme from FF6.
Yeeeeeah, I'm thinking when you start involuntarily tearing up when you start listening to this it's a good sign. I always loved the login music, especially the vanilla one. This is just....the best medley of it I think. Which isn't surprising as Blizzard tends to one up themselves with each expansion.
OMG at 5:45! when the part starts right after that, i get goosebumps! i love this stuff! Blizzard, Pat yourselves as a whole on the back because you did it again!
Could someone please post the actual mp3 file from the mpq? The compression on the youtube link is horrible and is a disgrace to the great music blizzard creates.
I love choir music, and the way Blizzard uses a choir makes the music just epic. I love walking in Stormwind due to this. This piece used the choir a lot, so I hope and assume that this is true for the in the in-game music as well (pretty please!!!).

They even put a little bit of Invincible in there.

Something about this just feels... Climactic. In fact, Cataclysm in general seems to me like we are reaching the Climax of the WoW storyline.

By the Titans... I thought the Wrath opening music was good!
This theme music is what created the Maelstrom.

Don't just look at this piece from a game point of view, as login music. It's more or less and overture to the entire WoW storyline thus far.

Is it weird that I'm kind of hoping to get stuck in queue every once in awhile so I'll be forced to listen to that? xD Loooooove it. ^^

Its pretty great but I dont understand why the "invinsible" theme is in it. I mean Invinsible isnt even in the WOTLK intro...

Both truly legitimatize gaming as an art form.
