ROFLBear ends its first week with hopes for the future

The reviews of ROFLBear have been somewhat mixed but mostly positive. I think as the series has been expanding its mythos, more folks are finding accessible comedy in the videos. There is an obvious variety of humor in the series, so I think most people will find something to their tastes over time.
One of the most interesting things about ROFLBear, though, is the sheer persistence and dedication devoted to the series by its creators. A daily machinima is not something that anyone should consider easy or simple. Myndflame has been working on these videos throughout 2010 to make sure they have enough material to maintain the schedule going forward.
This kind of daily content is a huge undertaking, as your intrepid WoW.com staff will tell you. I tip my hat to Myndflame and congratulate it on its first week. ROFLBear has been fun so far, and I look forward to what it is going in the future.

Meh

Unfortunately, I can't seem to get the video's to play for me. So I can't decide if it's any good.

Yeah wow.com is definitely getting payed for this, mostly positive reviews? what source do you have for that, even the myndflame site comments all hate it.
Jormund Fenris Aug 13th 2010 5:44PM
Perhaps a little research is in order before you accuse a site you apparently care enough to comment on of accepting some form of bribe.
I'm too tired to write everything else I need to get out of my system, so I'll just leave this here.

I love the internet.

Mostly positive?
What sites have you been reading. Most of the opinion's I've seen range from "Meh" to "This is bloody awful, a year on THIS?"

I find it quite ironic that machinmators like Wowcrendor with only Wow Model Viewer and a rudimentary movie making program can create better, funnier and even more clever pieces than people with full-blown editing softwares and voice actors.
olzer Aug 13th 2010 5:51PM
AFAIK, Wowcrendor records nearly all of his footage ingame, not sure if he actually uses Modelviewer at all, hmm...
JC_Icefox Aug 13th 2010 6:10PM
Don't forget about his judicious use of Paint, a genuine visionary on still-frame exposition.
I'd watch a daily Wowcrendor video, for sure.

Am I the only one that quite enjoyed ROFLbear?
O.o
Chronos88 Aug 13th 2010 7:35PM
Nope. I also quite enjoyed the series and found it pretty funny. Honestly I probably won't be checking on it daily since I never really visit Myndflame but if they show up on my YouTube subscriptions box then I'll most definitely give it a watch.
The other commenters have far too uptight. It seems like they're going for a silent film kind of comedy where it's the bear trying to do something productive, it doesn't work out, and then he's back on square one... That's fine with me. Illegal Danish 3 will come in due time.
Dreyja Aug 13th 2010 8:42PM
LOL, great minds. I must have hit add comment just a little after you did because I'd not seen a single positive comment up until that point. :)
Dreyja Aug 13th 2010 6:10PM
Well... I guess I'll be the first to say it. I think the turkey fight in episode 4 is a LOT of fun and the whole thing seems to be on the up-swing.
I mean, if mail boxes singing about a TOC wipe doesn't tickle you a little bit then you may be too much of a literalist to enjoy this series. XD We'll see though, as was said - each vid is different so something may make you lol down the road.
People need to relax a little and see that it's random and silly as well as serial.
I'm going to keep watching. :)
Sneaksy Aug 13th 2010 6:35PM
I'm not going to lie, I did grin a little when I saw the mailboxes, but ROFLbear overall just seems too puerile for my tastes. Maybe I'm an uptight person, but I don't usually consider myself one.
tonyplus Aug 13th 2010 6:11PM
The roflbear tag doesn't include the first episode, only the promo and this post.
Tyr Aug 13th 2010 6:19PM
I have to say I'm a bit disappointed in myndflame... they made my favorite WoW machinima (Illegal Danish) and the comedy in this series so far is of a much lower and much less original quality...
drebengolem Aug 13th 2010 6:34PM
I just watched all the episodes and I have just 1 question...Where's the funny?
The only episode i found entertaining(don't read "funny") was 4,but the other ones were...sh*t
Hurbster Aug 13th 2010 6:35PM
Mmmmmm, I'll give it a few more episodes. Maybe the funny will turn up in a bit.
david_maurice Aug 13th 2010 6:49PM
So far, it's not that entertaining. Maybe it might pick up but it seems like an effort to simply get attention after their previous successful series.
Sharalack Aug 13th 2010 6:55PM
"A daily machinima is not something that anyone should consider easy or simple."
Too right! Illegal Danish 2 took ages to come out and it was hilarious. I personally think they've tried to hard with this. If we can go through what's already happened;
Ep 1: Bear can't build mailbox (You already know my opinion on this if you look at my comment on the last movie watch)
Ep 2: The turkey steals his mailbox
Ep 3: He gathers information on the turkey and fights something in his house I think.
Ep 4: Epic Turkey battle.
Ep 5: ToC Song.
Episode 2 is just an action, no humour involved, he takes the mailbox and some flowers, boo hoo. The turkey battle was kinda cool to look at and the ToC song was vaguely amusing, but it just isn't funny. Sure it looks real professional and the effects are cool, but I watch this for humour. As someone previously said, WoWcrendor uses in-game footage and MS paint and he's brilliant. Visual polish isn't what's needed here guys...
