Leving as a frost mage, you can't go OOM unless you are spamming blizzard. This is in the current incarnation in the game... the replenishment itself really does the job, plus the pure mana efficiency of frostbolt and shatter combos is icing on that cake.

In my not so humble opinion, frost mages are by far the best, easiest, and fastest to solo while leveling up; the only thing that gives it a run for the money would be a blood death knight (talking about current live servers and not cata). The AOE ability is by far the best of any class while leveling, making it a breeze to grind all those birds you have to kill for quests in hellfire peninsula. The skill cap is a bit higher than a DK, but if you know what you are doing, you can just go nuts doing that stuff.
