Breakfast Topic: Kicking off a day of WoW
This Breakfast Topic has been brought to you by Seed, the Aol guest writer program that brings your words to WoW.com.
The intoxicating breath of the gods, the aroma of freshly ground, freshly brewed java. There really is nothing else I have found that jump-starts my day like a great cup of my favorite coffee. When I miss the opportunity or have to wolf it down as I am running late out of the house in the morning, the day just seems drag or deteriorate into some form of chaos beyond my control. Those are usually the days that the car won't start, they run out of roast beef at my favorite sandwich shop, or the copy machine breaks down just as I enter the office.
As WoW loads, I start to look forward to doing my jewelcrafting and fishing dailies. I wait in anticipation as the loading screen vanishes to rush over and see if I can find the jewel in the sewer or have to fight five other people for the dirty wine glasses in Dalaran. No matter which are available, my WoW day runs a little smoother if I am not whisked away to do other things before savoring the familiar flavor of both my coffee and my dailies.
What is it that jump-starts your WoW day and makes Azeroth a great place to spend a relaxing day?

Mmmm..coffee...

I may be a bit different from the majority, but I always start with a battle-ground! I don't look to see if my friends are on or even check my mail if the queue pops first. I spend a bit of time when I log in to remind myself why I'm a mage.

I always rush to the mailbox to see how much gold I made. And hope its a good amount. I love selling stuff and making gold. Almost 37k on both alliance and horde. I don't buy anything; i'm very frugal. :)

Being a creature of habit, I don't log in until my coffee is brewed and a fresh cup is on the desk next to me. After that I usually log in to my various healing toons and do at least one daily random on each of them. Then it's off to my warlock, to pursue the Loremaster achievement (which doesn't seem to get closer, no matter how many quests I do. Why is that?)
Of course I like to do this early in the morning while the household, the neighborhood, indeed the entire city, seem to be still asleep. If I happen to wake up a bit before the sun--even better. I like my alone time.

I totally agree with you. I like to be up early before everyone is awake, brew some coffee, and sit there quietly while I do do my dailies. It's a nice sense of peace and alone time that I rarely get, so I cherish it whenever I can.

I wish they had divided Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms into separate zones, or at least groups of zones (Azeroth, Lordaeron, Khaz Modan for Eastern Kingdoms, for example). The way it is now, you don't actually feel like you're accomplishing anything until you actually get the achievement, which makes progress on it difficult.

It also makes it difficult to know which zones you're missing quests in. There are so many hidden quest-givers in old world continents, like the exiled Tirion Fordring, I wonder how I have found some of them.

Prances...don't forget the addon EveryQuest can tell you what you are missing. It really helps with all that loremaster stuff.

The odd thing about being an early riser is the perception that it's healthy and good for you; but staying up till 3 and sleeping the same amount is somehow viewed as bad.
Hiwa Aug 16th 2010 10:53AM
@ neogramps--this is true. I have chronic insomnia, though, so often I go to bed at 3 a.m. and get up around 6 or 7 a.m. anyway. One end result of that is that I'm really fond of the early morning before the household wakes up :)

I run around Dalaran because doing something helps me think or listen, while waiting for a dungeon or battleground, or level an alt. But I always lay out what I want to do and what I should get done before hand, and think about the awesomeness of Zerglings.

Cocaine, Meth, PcP, and a little heroine
Khirsah Aug 15th 2010 8:51AM
pfffff...Noob. Everyone knows that heroine comes AFTER your dailies. Otherwise you are just lethargic and don't care about getting them done. ; )
Hyacintha Aug 16th 2010 1:17PM
A "little heroine"? That's, like, a female gnome warrior with pink pigtails, right?
Imnick Aug 15th 2010 8:52AM
Fucking argent tournament dailies
Won't even be done with them until I have started Uni and moved out of this house
ARGH!
viendictive Aug 15th 2010 9:33AM
It only takes 30 mins to complete all of the Argent Tourny dailies, including the Sunreaver's dailies. :P
(...at level 80, with a Tier 10 geared Paladin)
Moeru Aug 15th 2010 11:53AM
It takes 30min a DAY, but it takes over a month from start to finish to get Crusader title, not counting the Argent Dawn rep grind.
Tyr Aug 15th 2010 9:03AM
I log onto my auction character, empty her mail and repost some glyphs or if necessary make some extra glyphs. Then I look for a few steals to flip and some cheap herbs to mill.

First I like to start by checking my RSS feeds (of which wow.com is the top first) and eagerly await to see if there's a breakfast topic (timezones...sigh), The Queue or, on Tuesdays, a Tuesday morning post. I'm delighted when there's a Drama Mamas or a cataclysm mechanics topic (I don't like story spoilers : ( ). Next there's other feeds and comics.
When logging onto wow, I prepare myself mentally for the Argent Tournament dailies by waiting for Dalaran's objects and people to load and doing the cooking daily.
