Server Maintenance Party: Battle for Eastern Plaguelands live stream
Welcome to the Server Maintenance Party: Battle for Eastern Plaguelands! We are done with the gathering, let the PvP begin! Or at least the running around and standing in towers -- we'll at least get that done. Will the Alliance show up and attack? I don't know!
Join us in game (here are the details) or watch the stream on our Justin.tv channel. I'm narrating as usual. Whether this turns out to be an enormous battle or a funky dance party, it's going to be fun.
For the Horde!

The last I had heard, the alliance resistance was claiming victory based on Robin not completing the quest... though I could be wrong, I was a bit too busy fighting to watch the stream.
Samutz Aug 18th 2010 9:16AM
That's like saying I won WSG because I killed one person a couple of times even though the enemy won battleground.
Many of us completed the quest, including myself.

Though the stream was mostly on the "meh" side (watching a horde of, well, Horde sitting around doing nothing and Robin getting ganked over and over again wasn't terribly exciting), that one moment where the few Allies that did show up got mobbed by lower levels and Zerged to death definitely brought a smile to my face.
My suggestion for the next PvP party? Attempt a For The Horde. Sure, it'll be messy, but I would PAY to watch a stream of 300 Hordies rolling into Stormwind or Ironforge and utterly demolishing the city's inhabitants. Let's see some crazy large-scale battles!
Dreyja Aug 18th 2010 3:20AM
Wouldn't it be more interesting if we didn't ROLL over anyone but gave people a shot at both sides. Sure we won't be able to all talk in chat or anything but it would be a HECK of a lot more fun it it wasn't 300 horde verses anyone. Just a thought. :) I'd love to see the sister guild idea get some love.
I totally realize why all these events are horde (though I wish it otherwise ;-p) but this is one excuse where it makes sense to open it up to alliance play. Heck, it may be the only thing that'll ever get me to roll a dk. XD
I don't know if it's just my server but no one cares about the For the Horde/Alliance thing anymore. It's not the best way to get some world pvp going.
:)

@Dreyja
Well...that's kinda the idea, attacking a capital will certainly get the Alliance motivated to put up some opposition. Atleast that's how it works on my server, I guess different server populations have different priorities.
I'm definitely all for having a sister guild to set up "guild wars". Maybe it could be called "Go Back To The Blog" or "Blog Monsters".
Brian Aug 18th 2010 3:29AM
Well... roll is a bit of a stretch. As i saw it, until we stopped coming back, Northpass tower only passed into Horde hands for a few minutes the whole time.
And we didn't stop defending until a bit after the stream ended.
Though I will comment that the excess of level 58-60 DKs who were doing /rude, /spit, or just outright teabagging the alliance 80s who showed up to give you guys someone to fight was more than unneccessary, and, at least in my eyes, goes against the "fun" nature of such an event.
Dreyja Aug 18th 2010 3:34AM
Ugh... "punk" behavior. /eyeroll
There are always those that have to pull that kind of crap.
Brian Aug 18th 2010 3:58AM
Admittedly, I did use my Flag of ownership, however, I ONLY used that on level 80s, and did so sparingly. My team of alliance players were severely admonished for any sort of /rude, /spit, /chicket etc that we saw going on. My guild showed up to defend in the interest of making it fun, and giving the horde crew at least some organized resistance.
Hollow Leviathan Aug 18th 2010 4:31AM
Over 300 horde showed up. As was inevitable, almost no one paid attention to directions, spammed the guild chat, didn't listen to the stream, and a lot of people went off on their own and were isolated and camped and cried about it.
Being rude to the Alliance brave enough to show up was as inevitable as the spammers and whiners. I'm sad to say they sucked my fun and I had to leave early to salvage the evening, and I was on the winning side.
Hollow Leviathan Aug 18th 2010 4:32AM
Most of the time the ICFTB guild is an above-average group of nice folk who chat and have a nice time on a second server. This simply was not one of those times.
ISA Aug 18th 2010 5:48AM
Dare I say...Horde were the "funsuckers" this evening. :X
Brian Aug 18th 2010 8:22AM
Oh I know the ICFTB people are generally good. Whenever I saw someone in my guild team do anything like /rude, /spit, /chicken they got told to stop immediately. Similarly, the rule was made about not using the flag of ownership on corpses unless it was a level 80.
I won't lie, we got mowed over when... God knows how many, of the group all came at Northpass at once. That was when we lost it, but we regrouped, and a good chunk of that group pushed plaguewood, and we retook northpass and held it until the event was over =p
But, like the rest of the group, I was just up there for fun, and to try to give the ICFTB team as much of a fight as we could.

It saddens me greatly that there were so many people showing up who think that PvP means a blank check for bad behavior. The Alliance were awesome and we couldn't have accomplished what we did without them.
Brian Aug 18th 2010 10:22AM
Heh. Well from our standpoint, at least one of the Alliance teams had fun. We knew we were in for it if a large group came at us, but we decided we were going to hold our ground for as long as possible =p
When we had something like 10 of a possible 15 guildies who were online out there in EPL, plus a few assorted friends from other guilds, it was a good time. I felt bad for one shotting a few of the 58 DKs with ambush until we got mulched by what I would guess was 50-100 of you at least =p
But I'll do my best to round up the troops from Heroica whenever something similar pops up =)
Dreyja Aug 18th 2010 2:09PM
That sounds awesome Brian. If I make an alt over there perhaps I could hit you up for an invite? I don't know what the rules are to join your guild but you sound like good people and if nothing official happens with a sister-guild, I'd love a chance to participate alli-side somehow. :)
It sounds like, in general, the ICFTB people were honorable and got into the spirit of the thing. XD
I may have to transfer one of my hunters... I REALLY don't want a DK. :)

Instructions were given in guild chat before the stream started, and then repeated a few times by other members shortly after. The original article (linked in the one above) stated that they would be given in guild chat, not the stream.
Granted, guild chat was fast paced, but not impossible to follow along, especially if you skipped most of the chat and focused on Robin's all caps messages. She was the only one typing in all caps, so that her announcements would stand out from the rest of guild chat. She had been doing this for about an hour before the event started, repeating many times to go read the rules and the event's start time. And if you knew it was about time for the event to start, you should have been paying attention.
At the start of the event, there was a mass of DKs gathering around Robin when the stream started to follow her. Again, if you had been paying attention, instead of PvPing at LHC or whatever you were doing, you might have noticed this and went with them.
As for the deleted comments, I didn't get to see them, but if they were anything like this one that I'm replying to, I can understand why they may have been deleted. They border on looking like trollish comments we might get from people who were kicked and ignored because they didn't follow the rules.
Not everyone always enjoys the events, and it's almost always for the same reason: They didn't pay attention. And when that happens, people get left out, or get kicked for breaking rules, and then they take it personally. It's unavoidable when you're trying to herd a few hundred players.
Overall, I think the event was a success. I believe a lot people had fun. It can't be helped that some didn't, but it's no reason to bash the person that takes time out of their busy schedule to organize it.

Meant to be a reply to Paciphae.
Silly comment system.
Paciphae Aug 19th 2010 1:17PM
Obviously a personal friend of the GM, lying to cover her.
Robin Torres Aug 19th 2010 1:24PM
Paciphae, calling people liars is a personal attack. If you don't want your comments deleted, please do not personally attack people.
Paciphae Aug 19th 2010 5:42PM
If someone says that something took place, and I know it did not, I won't go along with them. You've essentially been calling ME a liar, after all. ;)
