The Queue: Worgen Freeman

Ever since I was a little pup, people have enjoyed the sound of my howl. And I figured you either get busy bayin' or you get busy dyin'. The work is really quite easy. Why, even right now I'm just sitting in an easy chair, sipping some orc blood and reading from a script. The wall is covered in something that resembles egg crates, except they're soft and spongy, like a goblin...like a goblin.
Rezai asked:
So with two new XP heirlooms in Cataclysm, are they going to start working at 80, or can we really have 40 percent XP bonus leveling from 1-80?
The two new heirlooms (head and cloak slots) work from 1 to 85, so yes, if your guild had gotten to the point where both of them were available, you'd get 35 percent extra experience starting at level 1. And lest we forget, there are guild perks that also increase your experience gain while leveling by 10 percent. Between a rested state, new heirlooms and guild perks, you'd be looking at a metric truckload of extra experience up until level 80, where it'd peter out to 25 percent.
Jason asked:
So ... I'm concerned about the guild achievements, in particular the 50,000 quest achievement. I've heard that any quests done prior to Cataclysm don't count towards that total. If that's true, then my guildies and I who earned Loremaster are looking like we're screwed. Also, can someone explain what's meant by the top 20 players in a guild being the only ones who count towards guild achievements? Is that based on guild rank or total achievement points?
You might be misunderstanding what a guild achievement is. It isn't "if 20 people in your guild have Loremaster, your guild has the Loremaster achievement." While you might have an achievement for being in a group that kills Cho'gall, your guild has a separate achievement for killing Cho'gall in a raid where 20 or more people are from your guild.
The top 20 earners count toward guild advancement, not achievements. Your guild can gain levels by people PvPing, killing bosses, doing quests, etc., and only the top 20 earners for the week will contribute to end-of-week XP gain. You also get guild XP for getting guild achievements, and Blizzard says it grants a "big chunk" of XP, so it feels good to get them.
The quests you completed prior to Cataclysm's launch won't count toward your guild's total for the 50,000 quests achievement -- but that's so when the system becomes available, everyone will be on equal footing. Note how all of the achievements say "as a guild" in them, too.
Saberix asked:
Is WoW.com going to re-do the leveling guides when Cataclysm hits?
Yep.
[Adam asks to Saberix: Why didn't you just ask me this on IM or in-game, or you know, call or text me? Don't trust me, brother? (Side note to readers: Obviously there is some sort of sibling rivalry going on here, or at least a bit of passive-aggressive bickering.)]
Valt asked:
Is leveling armor looking like it did in Wrath? That is, a couple models spread around all items?
There are four or so new armor models per armor class; one looks to be a dungeon set, and the others are leveling outfits. Right now it looks like there's one graphic set per armor class for Hyjal/Vashj'ir and one for Deepholm; I'm assuming that the Uldum/Twilight Highlands level range gets it own models too, but those zones aren't officially open or properly itemized yet, so we don't know for sure.
My rogue is modeling the Vashj'ir/Hyjal leather set below.

Wasn't he also in Clawshank Redemption?

Reading through all the comments (because I use my time wisely), I can't believe nobody recognized the Family Guy reference.
MDrules Aug 18th 2010 5:04PM
No one else recognized that as a family guy quote?
"Ever since I was a little boy, people have enjoyed the sound of my voice. And I figured you either get busy talkin or you get busy dyin'. The work is really quite easy. Why even right now I'm just sitting in a chair, sipping some tea and reading from a script. The wall is covered in something that resembles egg crates except they're soft and spongy, like a twinkie...like a twinkie."

@zdave & MDrules - Family Guy was the first thing I thought of!!

See to me the Worgen stood in for Gordon... I guess I spend more time in game worlds than real worlds...

Wake up. and. smell... the .. ashes, Mr. Worgen Freeman.

I will be so happy if the quest line for each area matches up your armor into a set that looks the same. I'm tired of having a purple hat, a green cape and an orange chest piece, despite looking like pimp.
Lansu Aug 18th 2010 12:28PM
It currently does in the low level places. For example, my Worgen warrior has been wearing mostly matching gear since Westfall. He started off by getting the Westfall green mail, graduated to Redridge Red, then moved on to Duskwood black. All of these items were the same model, just recolored, so it mostly matched the whole time. Now, he's in EPL, and it's turning blue and gold. I still can't seem to replace this pesky purple helm, though,

I know there is another patch before Cata. Why isn't anyone talking about it? Are they going to do something cool and event-y like the Scourge infection before Wrath? Maybe some more heavier seismic activity or something?
lownwolf Aug 18th 2010 11:18AM
I don't think anyone is talking about it because no one has any idea what will happen.
I'd put money on a game event though.
I'd also bet there will be a nerf of current raid content, or maybe they'll just remove the chill of the throne debuff and be done with it (i think that was in the plans from the start, right?)
toddless Aug 18th 2010 11:18AM
It will likely be just the gnomer and vashi---err w/e it's called quests/events.
The whole azeroth being destroyed thing will likely be portrayed through phasing and a cinematic.
glyakk Aug 18th 2010 11:28AM
Yes there will be a pre expansion event, but I don't think there is much information about it yet. I am sure blizzard has been keeping this secrete. I am sure they want to maximize the 'WOW factor'.. see what I did there!?
vanye111 Aug 18th 2010 12:11PM
Yeah, you misspelled secret. Somehow, I don't think you really meant secrete.
Charizard Aug 18th 2010 12:17PM
The 30% buff is the nerf to current content. It's not going to get any easier, nor can I imagine it being any easier.
Kvothe Aug 18th 2010 12:56PM
I'd put my money on nerfs for all AoE situations and some boss damage output, based on the Cataclysm model for AoE and healer-mana. Considering the tone-down of player AoE, things like Deathwhisper will need to be retuned. However, don't expect a 3.0 style lolpatch; the 30% ICC buff makes that unnecessary.
Ty Aug 18th 2010 1:00PM
Yes, Blizzard has said there will be a scourge invasion-type of even before cataclysm. They also said its going to be much bigger. So I cannot wait!!
Kirkules Aug 18th 2010 1:43PM
One of the best things about the Zombie Invasion was that no one knew about it beforehand.
