I'm posting this so everyone realizes there are two sides of the coin. RNG is not the best system, I wish it had some sort of internal diminished returns for each individual, or a sliding scale like the new lunar/solar (win/lose ratio) mechanic with mookins coming out.
My wife never wins anything, we wrote down and tracked our rolls in a spread sheet for 250 rolls that were for actual gear we would equip in ICC, we did not just spam '/roll' x250 (this does include saronites and second spec gear; or fourth spec, I'm a Durid). After about 6 months we discovered my average roll was 76 and hers was 34.
Maybe it is a coincidence but she has never seen a hilt in her 5 man runs and after I had won a 4th hilt doing daily randoms (I've seen 8 total) I gave it to her. She almost refused it, detesting my luck.
Ever wondered what your average roll is across your gaming career, I'm sure there would be shockingly low and high averages if Blizzard could shed some light? Let's not forget I have 12 mounts in this game and 8 had to be rolled on versus 5,10, or 25 others. My wife never congratulates me when I win something after our (non-scientific) test was so revealing. She has 76 mounts, no rares, alot of rep farming all over the world, i.e. Ambassador and such.
