The Queue: Spiders are gross

Good news, everyone. We've had such a good time with The Queue that we're not restricting it to just Monday through Friday anymore! If all goes well, you'll see another edition of The Queue on Saturdays and Sunday, too! Cool, right?
bui asked:
"Are there any creepy critters now that the world has been torn asunder? What made me think about the critters, you ask? Earlier today, there was a spider crawling on my face."
Oh boy, do I have an answer for you! The creepiest critter I've seen is a bear that's infested with spider eggs. There are eggs rising up out of it like massive rot pustules. There is also a spider matriarch in an unrelated area that unfurls her gangly, nasty limbs and grasps at your flesh while lowering herself from the top of her cave. My description doesn't quite have the same creepy kick as seeing it in action, so just make sure you quest in Silverpine Forest when Cataclysm launches.
Eventually, we're going to assemble a bestiary for all of Cataclysm, but I have no ETA for that.
Jaena Vashj asked:
"I understand that tauren paladins have been called Sunwalkers, but what of tauren priests? Do they share the same title, or have they just been somewhat forgotten? I know that big, shiny plate armor does tend catch the eye more."
I don't believe tauren priests have any unique title, but they also don't need one. Priest is a far more general term than paladin in Warcraft. Let's just pick out three races: humans, trolls and Forsaken. They all have priests, yet they all practice different faiths. You can argue that the humans and the Forsaken have the same base, but it's still a different faith. The trolls are completely different from both of them. They're all still priests. Priest is a very general term as far as lore goes.
Paladin is very specifically tied to the Light, and both races that aren't a part of that core order have their own unique name. The blood elves were the Blood Knights, and now the tauren have the Sunwalkers. As far as game mechanics go, they're all the exact same thing, but they're totally different in the lore. Different orders from different groups of people doing different things.
Travis the Blogatelle asked:
"Has anything been released yet as to the fate/whereabouts of Varok Saurfang in the beta?"
Not that I've encountered yet. There are still a few zones that aren't finished yet, and we haven't seen the full story behind what goes down during the Cataclysm event itself, so we may still see something out of him.
Tooky asked:
"I know they said they were going to do something with fishing to make it more interesting. Any changes in Cataclysm that are significant?"
The devs have said often that they're going to make fishing more interesting, but they never seem to actually do anything with it. That remains true. They have added new daily quests for the profession, but they haven't changed any of the base mechanics.

I wonder if the Ebon Hold gets remodeled so it's not so quiet/pointless to go to in Cataclysm. With the exception of Runeforging and talent purchases there's no real point to bother going there.
Bamdyou Aug 20th 2010 3:15PM
Um am I missing something or are there other DK trainers now?
ajnorway Aug 20th 2010 3:18PM
he said WITH THE EXCEPTION OF RUNEFORGING AND "TALENT PURCHASES", otherwise known as training.
Bamdyou Aug 20th 2010 3:22PM
Sorry long day, please excuse me while I attempt to take this foot from my mouth.
Fr0styz Aug 20th 2010 3:33PM
also in that one place up in icecrown dont remeber the name has rune forging and makes more sense to go to so really it is just training there
Josin Aug 20th 2010 3:26PM
I'm sure this has been asked before, but in Cataclysm, can non-DKs access to the floating Necropolis east of Light's Hope?
pietrex Aug 20th 2010 3:34PM
@Josin
Yep. But there's nothing interesting for non-DKs. You can't even use the FP there. Interestingly enough, there is a new NPC in the Scarlet Enclave. It's a single human woman who serves as a boat to Badlands.
Ana Stubbs Aug 20th 2010 3:37PM
I'm curious as to how a woman can act as a boat, we don't generally float that well.
Caz Aug 20th 2010 3:39PM
I've only played a DK through the starting experience, but I was delighted to see an homage to one of my favorite singers of all time - Siouxsie the Banshee!
jishdefish Aug 20th 2010 3:42PM
Cap'n Placeholder's wife?
Obeyfez Aug 20th 2010 3:49PM
@Ana Stubbs - maybe she's a witch

Holy toasted balls of steel in hell and heaven what IS THAT?
Ah the joys of.. progress...
Zahira Aug 21st 2010 8:09PM
@ Anna boobs float, so yes we do float well if we are well endowed, I personally am equipped with my own flotation devices, I'm just curious if she serves as a boat where do the passengers sit lol :)
Roy Aug 23rd 2010 11:51AM
@Ana - a woman's ability to float is completely dependent on the size of her flotation devices :-)

Do mineral nodes "despawn" they aren't mined in a certain amount of time?
(Kind of like how some rare mobs despawn if they aren't killed in time)
kalatash Aug 20th 2010 3:20PM
I'm pretty sure they aren't. Thought there might be a 'cap' on how many nodes there are in a zone at any one time. So that someone just passing through a random low level zone won't find a vain on every since place that can have one.
SerenityNow Aug 20th 2010 4:14PM
I don't know about the exact mechanics, but I do know mineral nodes DO despawn sometimes. It's happened to me a few times, most recently 2 nights ago, right after I had started mining a saronite node in IC. I started heaving the old pick, and when the bar was about halfway done my toon suddenly stopped, the node became unclickable, and then just faded before my eyes. And no ore entered my bag. There had been nobody near me and my server ping time was pretty low, so I know someone else didn't just beat me too it. Quite irritating! Would be nice if Bliz could suspend the despawn timer if said node is in the middle of being mined. Ah well, not the end of the world.
