Cataclysm Beta: Archaeology achievements

It occurred to us here at WoW.com that we hadn't mentioned these lovely new achievements implemented for the archaeology profession. In addition to the standard "you have at least this many points" achievements, there are also three achievements with a bit more flavor to them.
- I Had It in My Hand, which grants the player the illustrious title of Assistant Professor, is rewarded for finding a rare artifact.
- Seven Scepters is granted for recovering, well, seven scepters. As you can see above, two are named, the rest are not -- so your guess is as good as mine.
- The Lost Thanes is one you earn by discovering the names of the Five Lost Dwarven Thanes, apparently by discovering items they once possessed.

I'm always aeamzd that spelling errors aren't rcengzeiod by the human brain as long as the first and last letters are the same with the same letters in it.

@RndySasqatch I actually was wondering what the hell you were trying to type.

sdstoll Aug 21st 2010 1:46PM
If only it was Associate Professor
Microtonal Aug 21st 2010 2:27PM
My new favorite title. Any of my characters that gets this will wear it permanently.
Drahken Aug 21st 2010 3:57PM
@sdstoll: Granted! The achievement for finding just one grants you Assistant Professor. But apparently, getting ALL of them is http://cata.wowhead.com/achievement=4856, which grants you Associate Professor.
Now all we need is another rank above that that grants you the title "...Top ...Man"

I'm going for Associate Professor. I want tenure!

There should be a way, through first grinding rep, to gain access to a quest chain that requires you to:
Depth of Knowledge Requirement:
- solo a bunch of lower-level dungeons/raids and accumulate certain rare loot and/or rare overworld drops (Fiery, Icy, Crusader, and Undeath Enchants for instance)
Breadth of Knowledge Requirement:
- have the achievements for reading all of Azeroth's readable books, as well as Loremaster and Explorer
Community Requirement:
- every week you need to give through trade windows at least N amount of gold to other players, where N is sum(all level 85 daily quest payouts)*95%*4.5 .
Body of Work Requirement:
- every week you have to turn in a random craftable green, blue and purple item that you can make, as well as one blue craftable item that some other tradeskill can make
Upon completion, you become: Associate Professor , the Tenured
and get an epic shirt-slot item, [Robes of the Tenured] that grants +50 Int, but -15 Spirit.

The capstone acheivement should be 'It's not the years, it's the miles...'

Since they removed Path of the Titans, and that was linked to this profession, how...will it be changing or, working?
Iirdan Aug 21st 2010 1:19PM
It's not changing per se. The profession will still be implemented as designed, just minus that Path of the Titans benefits. In essence, it's now a vanity profession like Fishing. There for fun, not necessity.
Artificial Aug 21st 2010 1:58PM
I would call fishing a "vanity profession". It's a gathering profession, which feeds cooking, a crafting profession that provides useful items. I would reserve "vanity profession" for things that don't really provide any benefit at all, like first aid. ;)

Argh... "wouldn't"... wouldn't call it... WTB edit button

I'm SO looking forward to this profession. I don't care if it does anything useful.
Lucera Aug 21st 2010 12:53PM
This^ As long as I can treasure hunt for artifacts, I don't care what it offers me in return! I loooooove hunting for easter eggs / resource nodes / netherwing eggs / ice chips. If it is hidden, I must find it! O.O

I NEED STARGATE JOKES PLEASE JUST HAVE STARGATE REFRENCES. OOh how about an achievement or quest that has to do with an archaeologist that dies and keeps coming back to life!!!!!!!!!!!!
