World of WarCrafts: Make your own leather blood elf ears

With the fabulous legion of blood elves dominating the Horde population, players are powerless to resist the appeal of the Sin'dorei. Even Alliance players find themselves watching their Orbs of the Sin'dorei, waiting impatiently for Fabulous Time to come off cooldown. My gift to you is your very own Orb of the Sin'dorei for personal use: leather blood elf ears. These babies are easily worn with a blonde wig -- for those of you who are not naturally fabulous -- or on a headband.
Follow us after the break for a step-by-step how-to gallery that shows you how to create your own fabulous leather blood elf ears!
Materials and tools:
- smooth workspace (such as a granite cutting board or anything smooth and durable; you will be hammering on it!)
- 2 sheets of letter paper taped together (length- or width-wise are both acceptable)
- 2- to 3-oz. veg-tanned leather
- heavy-duty shears
- pen or pencil
- hammer
- spray bottle with water
- contact cement
- acrylic paint (optional)
- headband or wig
Cut an isosceles triangle from paper, with the base measuring 8 inches and height measuring 13 inches. If you want a bit more room to work with, feel free to add an extra inch to each dimension; you can just cut the excess away. Round off the narrow tip of the triangle with your shears. This piece of paper will serve as your template. Feel free to practice the following directions on another template copy to get the folding technique down. When you feel ready, continue to the next steps with your leather hide.
Trace your template onto the back of the leather (the rough side) with a pen or pencil. Make two of these shapes. Cut them out with the shears, taking care to not scrape the face of the leather as you cut. You may choose to work on the ears side by side or one at a time. This tutorial will demonstrate side-by-side construction, and each ear represents a different step. The ear on the left side of each image is the right ear and vice-versa.

I'm trying to decide whether this is awesome or terrifying.

Forget the the ancient and powerful magics of the arcane and the holy light, those ears are sharp and should not be taken lightly.
Paultab Aug 23rd 2010 4:33PM
I'll help you decide. It's Terrifying.

So a Male dressing up as a Blood Elf male would be considered cross dressing, wouldn't it?
Tokkar Aug 23rd 2010 1:37PM
Not.
Funny.
In fact, the whole "blood elves are ghey" thing is very, very tired. Grow up, people.
Joker Aug 23rd 2010 1:46PM
@Tokkar. Never said they where gay, lol.
They do represent Gays though, every playable race represents a culture from reality.
Let's hope you learn to comprehend a sentence when you grow up.
Kajira Aug 23rd 2010 1:57PM
@Joker They do? I always thought their jokes portrayed them as being your stereotypical vapid "privileged youth". The references to the mall and their appearance and sexual promiscuity.
Interesting that you seem to think that means "gay". I'm on Tokkar's side here. The "lol they have long hair they are girls" thing is so very 1940s.

@Joker
"every playable race represents a culture from reality."
The only other races I can think of is with a sub-culture is goblins with their mobster/tycoon culture and the trolls with their resemblances to Carribean nations and voodoo superstition.
Please explain how every playable race represents a real culture.
Also blood elves do not represent the gay community or vice versa. Why do you think a race that exhibits elegance and ancient power and tradition is gay?
J Aug 23rd 2010 2:00PM
Psst, hey, Joker. Your bigotry is showing. Might wanna tuck it away.
Joker Aug 23rd 2010 2:27PM
@J. Lol, I'm a bi male. I don't hold any intolerance or hatred towards any race or way of living either.
Not really sure where you got me being a bigot from.
@Johnny. Actually i was having a conversation about this a while back in trade chat and there where a few gay men in trade who agreed with me.
The races are pretty obvious if you have ever played them.
Orcs- African.
Trolls- Jamaican.
Tauren- Native American.
Forsaken- Goth.
Blood Elf- Gay.
Goblin- Possibly Jewish according to stereotypes.
I don't play Alliance so i don't know theirs.

Please . . . just stop. A conversation in trade chat is hardly compelling evidence. My last server had regular conversations in trade chat revoliving around "Girls dont play wow" and "Druids cant tank".
Besides, you're also confusing "draws influences from" and "is meant to symbolize". Trolls are not supposed to be Jamaicans. Their lore and religious practices draw heavily from Haitian Voodoo, not Rastafari. The male Troll dance is based on the martial art Capoeira which is BRAZILIAN. Goblins are meant to be based on the 40's Brooklyn gangster/mobster sterotype, it has nothing to Jewish people. Blood Elves are not meant to represent the Gay community, it's based on the stereotype of they snobby white upper class. Have you ever heard the female Belf jokes? They're all about day spa's, shopping, gaining weight and facials.
