Well, Night Elves are a blight...

If it wasn't for the sheer number of plot devices and Deus Ex Machina they've been involve with, the Nelves would've died out ages ago through sheer incompetence. Whether it be exploding trees of immortality, time travelling orcs, founts of endless magic, the Bronze dragon flight or someone explaining to them the eight foot tall bull guys might just be useful in a fight, the Night Elves are just one not-appearing-in-a-novel catastrophe from being extinct.

Blowing up the tree wasn't such a bad thing. Every race benefited from it except the night elves.:D

@Murdertime:Blizzard is very fond of world-shattering cataclysms (the upcoming expansion is merely the latest) and near-extinction events. The Sundering, the orcish slaughter of the draenei and the breaking of Draenor, the Scourge killing literally 90% of the high elves, a similar proportion of the gnomish population dead or turned into radioactive mutants, and all the orc and human casualties from THEIR wars... sometimes, I think it's a wonder that half of these races still have viable breeding populations, let alone functioning societies.

I just don't understand how they went 10,000+ years without moving past Bows and Swords, then Goblins come along...
