The Queue: I, Mike Sacco, smell terrible

This title is what happens when you don't title your own post and leave it to Alex to do it. You have all been warned.
Sumadin asked:
With Menethil Harbor flooded how do Alliance players get to Theramore and Howling Fjord? Has it all been moved to Stormwind?
As it turns out, docks float. Menethil Harbor is both a fully-functional quest hub and fully-functional port town. You can still get to Theramore and Valiance Keep from there.
Kavu asked:
I wonder about worgen form and combat -- I remember hearing that worgen would need to be in worgen form while in combat, but if you're in human form and, let's say, cast Moonfire do you then have to go through the few second transformation?
Transformation only takes time when you hit the Two Forms button. When going into combat or casting a spell, the change is instantaneous.
Mau asked:
While there was no internet today, I randomly decided to see the game's credits and the arts shown there surprised me. There was one landscape I didn't recognize though, in vanilla WoW's credits, a city built on a petrified nautiloid-looking thing (or is it a city on a hill that's been sculpted like a nautiloid?), any clue on what that place is?
It's uncertain for what the art was going to originally be used, but its untextured model is currently in-game on Designer Island. Also present on Designer Island: mining and herb nodes of every type. Weird.
ROB13 asked:
We already know that mounts will scale to the highest riding level I.E. Bronze Drakes going 310% if you have a Violet Proto Drake, but will the Sea Turtle scale to the new faster Sea Horse mounts we get in Vashj'ir?
At this point in beta, no, they don't. They might later, but it's unlikely -- getting that water mount is a rite of passage in the zone.
Crewdie asked:
So in the expansion, you get locked into a talent tree as soon as you pick it, right? Any chance this will affect the LFG system? As in "You aren't spec'ed to tank, you can't tank?"
As of a few builds ago, I was able to queue as healing on my elemental shaman. I haven't tested it recently.

when you say valiance keep do you mean valgarde
Bapo Aug 29th 2010 2:11PM
Pretty sure he means Valgarde

Before reading the opening paragraph, I read the title to mean that, like some animals can supposedly smell fear, Sacco can smell terrible!
Kurash Aug 29th 2010 2:12PM
But what does Terrible smell like?
warriorpanda Aug 29th 2010 2:13PM
It's a whole lot more useful than Gearscore for vetting puggers!
Marcosius Aug 29th 2010 2:57PM
"My dog has got no nose."
"Then how does he smell?"
"Awful!"
Janaan Aug 29th 2010 5:42PM
Your comment made me think of Chronicles of Riddick when he says "It's been a long time since I smelled beautiful". Cause that makes just as little sense as what you thought you read.

So how is it possible for Deathwing to fly? I mean, he's the dragon aspect of the EARTH and is literally made of MOLTEN LAVA and metal. He's most likely far too heavy to even be able to jump.
Imnick Aug 29th 2010 2:13PM
Dragon magic
Imnick Aug 29th 2010 2:13PM
I mean if you think about it none of the dragons should be able to fly anyway.
I meant to put that in my first comment but it had "add comment" highlighted so when I pressed enter it sent before I was done ):
Kurash Aug 29th 2010 2:14PM
I think that if you're willing to accept that a dragon made of molten lava and held together by metal plates that keep him from bursting apart exists in the first place, accepting that he can also fly shouldn't be that big a step.
Zalvi24 Aug 29th 2010 2:15PM
a wizard did it
jishdefish Aug 29th 2010 2:26PM
Same way bears fly on the Gunship battle, only this rocket butt of lava and sulfur is built-in.
Al Aug 29th 2010 2:40PM
Let the Dragons fly, forcing them to walk with those stumpy legs is cruel.
I'm more bothered by "docks float". Docks do not work that way.
Dragoniel Aug 29th 2010 2:45PM
None of most popular depictions of a dragon (namely Western, Eastern and Indian serpentine dragonkin species) are able to fly, because they simply don't have the required aerodynamic properties. There are dragons that would actually be able to lift off and fly on their own without the help of magic, but none of them are present in the World of Warcraft.
Yes, there are some pretty serious documented scientific researches on various dragons would-be aerodynamic properties, as well as other things. Interesting stuff, for those absolutely crazy about those majestic creatures.
Majority of dragons and some wyrms are using magic in order to fly.
SunGod228 Aug 29th 2010 2:59PM
I heard he has to break wind to take off
Grubba Aug 29th 2010 3:13PM
@Al Docks for smaller boats do, actually. If they didn't, the ebb and flow of tides would make their relative heights to the boats be constantly changing. Docks for large vessels can have fixed height because they compensate for this by using ramps, but smaller boats are tied directly to the dock, so they need to maintain a constant height.
Go out to a shipyard for small/private boats sometime and check it out.
Kurash Aug 29th 2010 3:27PM
Grubba's right -- docks do, indeed, float. And for those exact reasons -- the tide can change the depth of the water by upwards of seven feet each day in many places. (Been sailing all my life, so I've been around quite a few harbors & docks. :) )
Piers and quays are set structures that don't float, though. Maybe that's what Al was thinking of.
Sedirex Aug 29th 2010 3:30PM
I like to think he got thrusters built in along with all that metal plating.
Al Aug 29th 2010 3:56PM
I stand corrected.
Still, the jetty/wharf/thing at Menethil Harbor is on a fixed platform, it's not going to float in place.
