arixian, I think you'd find we're the last people to call ourselves casual. Our old slogan used to be 'casual schedule, hardcore raiding' and that's what we all work towards. Most of our guild is made up of people who were in very hardcore, 5-night+ guilds. We have that same attitude towards progression. We just don't spend the same amount of time on it that others do.
And you're right; we do spend a lot of time outside raids talking, looking at parses (of ourselves and others), evaluating what we can do better and being very quantitative and critical. The difference is that that time can be spent anywhere, and can be picked up or dropped quite easily. That's not the same thing that can be said for raiding on a schedule of 4-5 days a week.
