Personally I don't see too much of it in game, I'm always reading about if out of game but in game at least on my server people are still trollin away as usual and /g chat is relatively Cataclysm free, so when I see Cataclysm news I usually eat it up, but I do see how someone can be annoyed 9/10 articles now have some relevance to Cataclysm in them and it can be overwhelming

agreed, i'm in the beta myself but i don't spend a lot of time in it, i do test as often as i can and submit feedback reports but it feels like it's drawing on to a ridiculous level. in the live servers i see MOSTLY trolling comments in trade as usual, and my guild is a relatively low-key friends/family guilds so we don't comment on it a whole lot unless anyone has a question for me. but yeah, seeing every article out there being speculate this, spoiler that is starting to get tiresome. course then there's the times when trade is speculation about stat-changes in cataclysm, like last night, it was pretty funny to watch how horribly wrong people were being about all the changes, i woulda corrected them but hey, if they wanna assume things without any actual facts, who am i to judge >.>
aaanyway long story short, in game experience is relatively unhindered other than the very true fact of people not logging in as often (myself included), but the cataclysm news articles are everywhere, and it's just time for it to come out finally, i feel like they released a lot of spoilers earlier than the last couple expansions this time, and that's made it feel a lot more drawn out, but then again maybe it's just the hype around such a large expansion that makes it feel this way

THANK YOU!!!
I've been leveling alts in the Live Wow enjoying myself having fun :D i'm really starting to get the hang of a priest.
once i'm done with a priest and a warlock i wanna try to see if an RP guild is possible on the server.

Having 3 toons at 80, and multiple toons at or below 30, I can't imagine now being the time when I'd want to level again. Especially with all that tantalizing Cataclysm goodness just around the corner.
Dril Aug 31st 2010 8:54AM
@Josing: Exactly.
I want to level a lot of classes atm but then I think how much better it'll be when Cata hits. So I cancelled my sub instead :/
dawnseven Aug 31st 2010 9:07AM
I have 10 80s and I couldn't imagine leveling another toon now either, but I rolled one a) out of sheer boredom and b) because I just wanted to play. I adamantly swore more than a year ago not to level another toon through Azeroth as we know it, and here I am, with my new baby paladin having hit her 50 ding last night. I can feel where Elizabeth is coming from. I want Cata to come just as fervently as everyone else, but beyond that, I just want to play.

TIRED OF THE BETA!!!!!!!!!!
i would hug amy winehouse for a beta key
Josin Aug 31st 2010 8:12AM
That's hardcore.
Erzfiend Aug 31st 2010 8:51AM
Psh, I'd go to a Justin Bieber concert for a beta key.
Although I cannot say I would be in a healthy mental state afterwards to play.
Thyago Aug 31st 2010 9:10AM
I'll mail you mine if I ever get one.
I was on WotLK beta, and I never wanna do it again (but the name is on the opt-in for some reason...). Bloody annoying to spend so much time doing stuff just to lose it all when the beta ends.
Drecin Aug 31st 2010 9:43AM
Psh...go to a justin bieber concert...try working security in the locker room for his concert...jaiden smith was there and far cooler...and justin bieber likes to smack lil boys in the sack...smith went down...so I would like my beta kay since I had to endure that
Rajah Aug 31st 2010 9:06PM
Amateurs! I'd dress like Lady Gaga for a beta key.

Cataclysm seems to have brought our raiding guild to a standstill. Whereas before we were clearing through the hard mode bosses with relative ease (8/12 heroic), we've been stuck farming normal bosses for weeks or not even raiding at all because of a lack of people.
We're also a 10 man guild, so not having enough people is really sad.
It's getting quite frustrating. I just want to kill the Heroic Lich King, even just once. It has yet to be done by a 10-man guild on my server. I'm excited for Cataclysm too, but I do wish the next expansion didn't have such a debilitating effect upon the current one.
Josin Aug 31st 2010 8:12AM
To be fair, this is pretty normal during the summer. Few guilds are able to maintain their normal raiding schedules from June through August.
Neyssa Aug 31st 2010 8:48AM
I understand you. I just wanted to kill the Lich King (normal is fine for me). We have done it last week (casuals yee :). I dont think I will even log in from now on to my main, his job is done, my pally is coming up with Pursuit of Justice for Catalysm :)
Hairfish Aug 31st 2010 9:48AM
Same problem here. My guild has quit raiding at all, and even those who give a fig about daily heroics have to PuG them. People left as usual for summer vacations and whatnot...and now they're back and the young'uns are headed for school.
I look at screenshots sometimes, but I won't read anything about Cataclysm any more. I had a chance to participate in the beta, but my sloooow DSL prevented the download (it would have taken about four days). Sour grapes? Yeah. LOL
Roy Aug 31st 2010 8:09AM
Ditto. In order to prevent this from happening, I've put WoW on hold since last month and ignored every Cataclysm-related post (save this one :p).
I know that when Cataclysm finally hits, my experience will be the better because of it. New sruff will actually be new :)
peabot Aug 31st 2010 3:05PM
I feel the same way.
I want my $$ worth when Cat comes out so I try my best to stay blissfully ignorant to all but the most obvious and publicized changes.
I don't want to know all about the quests etc. in advance. I want to DO quests. I want to get lost. I want to wipe when I don't know how a new dungeon mechanic works. I want to experience the game. To me the fun is sucked right out of things if you know it all in advance.
sioras Aug 31st 2010 8:12AM
I mean, I'm with you. But I'e always really enjoyed this calm before the storm. I suppose it's really where your interests lie right? Back in my heavy raiding days though, especially, this was my chance to just get back to the game. To just breathe it in again. Now that I play a bit more casually its become a chance to mess with new ideas and alts, and to theorycraft a bit on what class I suddenly will find interesting in Cataclysm.
Again, I'm with you, the anticipation is a good thing, but my god I hate when it's drawn out and STILL with no release date.
Josin Aug 31st 2010 8:11AM
I haven't noticed much change of the populace in-game, aside from a few of the newer guildies asking inane questions about Cataclysm that would have been easily answered if they'd put in the tiniest effort on their own. "Can Worgen be shaman?" That was answered like... 6 months ago? Google is your friend, people.
Hm. Guess I'm more burnt on Cata talk then I thought. I suppose I either want it to be here, or I want to stop hearing about it, since so much is still in flux.
Mostly though, I want a 25-man Lich King kill.
