Ghostcrawler -- Hunter damageQuote:
One thing I noticed about some of the changes for this "unofficial build", is that all the weapon dmg is being removed from our attacks. That doesn't seem like the right move to me, seeing as we our a mainly physical dmg dealing class that we should rely on weapon dmg based attacks. I know this may be just a test to see how it works out, but in my personal opinion that hunter are shift TOO much to function like a caster than a physical dmg dealing class. We don't want every shot to be like explosive shot, I personally like the versatility our three tress give. BM is obviously more pet focused, MM is more physical dmg, and survival is magic dmg. I would encourage blizzard to reconsider these changes and move the changed shot back to weapon damage.
Another concern I noticed in the "unofficial changes" was that two of the venoms were removed. Now this isn't that big of a deal, except in one case. It removes a lot of the uniqueness from Chimera Shot. So I was curious if we could get some insight on some of this "unofficial builds" changes, and maybe the direction the dev are seeing for the hunter class.
P.S. please if you do decide to reply to this thread, do not whine or complain, as it not constructive in any fashion, and will do more harm than good. Please provide levelheaded feedback as this will make your voice be heard, rather than ignored.

Most of these attack still scale from weapon damage. We just changed them from say 200% weapon damage to 100% weapon damage with a higher attack power component. We want weapon damage to matter, but not quite as much as it does on live.
As an example, Chimera Shot now says: "An instant shot that causes weapon damage plus N, refreshing your Serpent Sting and triggering an effect depending on the venom on the target...".
Ghostcrawler -- Life tap changeLife Tap scaling with spellpower was proving hard to balance. We buffed Drain Life as well, so you should be able to Life Tap once and then Drain Life your way back up.
Ghostcrawler -- Retribution paladinsSeal of Righteousness and Seal of Justice didn't merge. Seal of Righteousness is unchanged. We just added a little damage to Seal of Justice so that paladins didn't have to give up all Seal damage (and talents etc. that affect them) in order to get the Justice effect.

We buffed it to 50/100% more healing when used on others (up from 30/60%). These numbers are unlikely to be final.

Ghostcrawler -- Holy paladinsSeal of Insight will improve your mana regen and self healing. It will give you a little of each if you only Judge and give you more (but not a broken amount) if you're ever in a position where you can melee the target. There is also a glyph to improve your healing while Insight is active. I'll concede that running a Seal is probably more important for a Ret or perhaps even Prot paladin than a Holy paladin, but there's still no reason not to do so.

Valnoth -- Level cap is now 85Twilight Highlands and Uldum are now open and ready for testing. You will need to do both zones to reach max level. It should also be noted that neither zone is 100% complete. Please refer to the quest forum for feedback:

This is terrible news... Zul'Gurub has always been my favorite instance.
Natsumi Sep 1st 2010 9:36AM
I have many fond memories of that raid, how could they! That's almost like taking out Molten Core. What were the Devs thinking?
My favorite Team Speak (yes, we used TS back in the day) quote is still:
"Hey look, Mandril survived Venoxis. *Mandril dies* Oops, spoke too soon."
Noctune Sep 1st 2010 1:53PM
I so agree
it was my first instance i raid leaded and it was a blast.
and the booming voices in the Ventrillo when we downed the first boss.
my lovely Zulian Scepter of rites .... i was the first who got the drop from that instance and well at the end everyone who could use it had one but still it was good old times.
yes you can solo most bosses in ZG and now ppl only farm for the 2 mounts or getting nice alt gear or patterns ......

I've always loved ZG too, but I'm quite happy to hear that it's being repurposed as a quest area. I'd likely never raid it again anyway, this way I'll get to enjoy it on my leveling alts, and even get to fly over it once in awhile just for fun.

Ah, the golden gods of Blizzard...ALWAYS knowing EXACTLY what they're doing...

Not Zul'Gurub! I wonder why this could be. I like the suggestion of ZG as a 5 man though.
Nex Sep 1st 2010 9:17AM
I think the instance is just too huge and has lots and lots of scenery/objects in there - they just can't be bothered bringing it to the 'cataclysm standards' graphics.
Thundrcrackr Sep 1st 2010 9:39AM
@ NEX
ZG will still be there as a quest area, just not as an instanced raid. So it will be updated graphically along with everything else.
What I can't believe is that Blizz didn't answer the obvious follow up question that will instantly be on most people's minds when they read that post: "Will the ZG mounts still be available by other means?"
I'm guessing no but would love confirmation. :(
jrb Sep 1st 2010 8:07PM
ZG's still the only place i remember seeing bamboo in game. correct me if i'm wrong.
as a zone it's actually still beautiful.
as a raid it has some interesting mechanics.
obviously, no one goes there now though, making the zone worthless unless they bought up to a higher level.. tbh, i would have been happy with a lvl80 ZG to tide us over the 10months we've had to deal with icc. 10 MONTHS! FFS blizz, what were you thinking?!
maybe it'll be the lvl 85 troll instance to tide us over until the expansion pack after cata

Ugh. Guess I need to get in there and finish out rep grinding and trying to get those mount drops before it disappears.
Zanaji Sep 1st 2010 9:08AM
Farm up your mounts while you can.
Vogie Sep 1st 2010 9:08AM
No ZG.... Why?! I hope they're making it an actual zone. I love ZG. Add a couple quests, update the Zanzalar (or however they spell it) rep rewards to level whatever.

Zul'Gurub? Gone? Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo -- *cough* *cough* -- oooooooooooooooooo!

Zul'Gurub gone? Wtf! :(
Like every one i want to know about the mounts.
thegatherer Sep 1st 2010 9:15AM
I heard, I think on WoW.com, that there was going to be a quest that you will have to solo ZG....above 80, of course.
The real question to be asked is "Will the tiger still be available?". I think the same post also said the tiger mount will still be available when you kill the appropriate boss....
jtrain Sep 1st 2010 9:18AM
"Zul'Gurub is gone as a raid instance come Cataclysm. "
So that's all we get? No explanation of why, or if it's going to exist in some other form like a 5-man or even a new zone? I can't imagine they'd just take it out w/out a good reason. When the original Naxx was removed, it's because they used it in Wrath. If ZG will be removed, I sure hope it's for use somewhere else.
And haven't I read before on multiple occasions that Blizz doesn't like removing content as a general rule? Something is afoot here...
Sciarc Sep 1st 2010 11:21AM
I found this on MMO C:

ZG is definitely still around in Cataclysm. Maybe like a Jintha'Alor-type questing area?
Vahan Sep 1st 2010 12:26PM
Perhaps they are just testing the water in terms of public reaction
Novalix Sep 1st 2010 9:19AM
I don't appreciate how Blizz drops this bomb without any further explanation. They previously stated the mounts would remain. Would it have been that hard to add an extra few words, a sentence even, giving more explanation and/or details?
