Ghostcrawler -- Hunter damageQuote:
One thing I noticed about some of the changes for this "unofficial build", is that all the weapon dmg is being removed from our attacks. That doesn't seem like the right move to me, seeing as we our a mainly physical dmg dealing class that we should rely on weapon dmg based attacks. I know this may be just a test to see how it works out, but in my personal opinion that hunter are shift TOO much to function like a caster than a physical dmg dealing class. We don't want every shot to be like explosive shot, I personally like the versatility our three tress give. BM is obviously more pet focused, MM is more physical dmg, and survival is magic dmg. I would encourage blizzard to reconsider these changes and move the changed shot back to weapon damage.
Another concern I noticed in the "unofficial changes" was that two of the venoms were removed. Now this isn't that big of a deal, except in one case. It removes a lot of the uniqueness from Chimera Shot. So I was curious if we could get some insight on some of this "unofficial builds" changes, and maybe the direction the dev are seeing for the hunter class.
P.S. please if you do decide to reply to this thread, do not whine or complain, as it not constructive in any fashion, and will do more harm than good. Please provide levelheaded feedback as this will make your voice be heard, rather than ignored.

Most of these attack still scale from weapon damage. We just changed them from say 200% weapon damage to 100% weapon damage with a higher attack power component. We want weapon damage to matter, but not quite as much as it does on live.
As an example, Chimera Shot now says: "An instant shot that causes weapon damage plus N, refreshing your Serpent Sting and triggering an effect depending on the venom on the target...".
Ghostcrawler -- Life tap changeLife Tap scaling with spellpower was proving hard to balance. We buffed Drain Life as well, so you should be able to Life Tap once and then Drain Life your way back up.
Ghostcrawler -- Retribution paladinsSeal of Righteousness and Seal of Justice didn't merge. Seal of Righteousness is unchanged. We just added a little damage to Seal of Justice so that paladins didn't have to give up all Seal damage (and talents etc. that affect them) in order to get the Justice effect.
--
We buffed it to 50/100% more healing when used on others (up from 30/60%). These numbers are unlikely to be final.

Ghostcrawler -- Holy paladinsSeal of Insight will improve your mana regen and self healing. It will give you a little of each if you only Judge and give you more (but not a broken amount) if you're ever in a position where you can melee the target. There is also a glyph to improve your healing while Insight is active. I'll concede that running a Seal is probably more important for a Ret or perhaps even Prot paladin than a Holy paladin, but there's still no reason not to do so.

You know, a new 5 man leveling instance would be rather cool, maybe ZG could have that. I really hope they do something cool with it, cuz I can't imagine them just leaving that real estate void of function.
In any case, I need to go get my Raptor, Tiger and kill some Insanity bosses.

Found an old article.
http://www.wow.com/2010/07/26/cataclysm-beta-northern-stranglethorn-and-the-cape-of-stranglet/
Scrolling down a bit I found,
"You kill Zanzil and discover that Jin'do was moments behind -- his portal to Zul'Gurub is even still there! You take the plunge, ending up inside the raid instance -- except this is your own personal Zul'Gurub, where everything is your level."
I guess they could move the raid from it's current location and this portal forces you to load into it? As part of some kind of epic quest series?
Kragragh Sep 1st 2010 10:06AM
My guess would be that they're removing the raid in order to implement the solo content. I'm guessing they didn't want to have both a level 60 (or 55, whatever) raid and a level 85ish solo content.
And everyone bitching about them not giving you more information...calm down. Be patient. They don't owe you what you want when you want it how you want it.

While I find it understandable given the immense changes to the zone, personally I'm just fed up with running these things for rare mounts. I've run close to a thousand raid/dungeon and I haven't even seen one drop from anywhere. It really tweaks the wrong nerve when I see someone with 4-5 rare mounts and they tell me "Oh, it only took me a couple of tries".
With so many out there I'm only going to run any given raid/dungeon at most 50 times before a new expansion. If we're gonna have these items lets at least boost the drop rate to something worth the effort.
Firestyle Sep 1st 2010 11:32AM
I agree with you. Running these for mounts is a chore. I like the concept of rare mounts, but then again, only when I have them. Personally, I like the achievement mounts and I like the casual friendly mounts like the polar bear quest and green proto. I also liked the quest-chain rep grind mounts like the talbuks, nether rays, and nether drakes.
I don't like the Ony mount, the Sarth 3D mounts, etc. These aren't fun since they are RNG and they rarely drop and you rarely win them when the content is current.

the sarth 3D mount is 100% drop

Your logic is flawed, as the information came out YESTERDAY, and wow.com is only just reporting on it today. ;)

My guess is that Zul'Gurub's going to see action this weekend like it's ZG's birthday, Valentine's Day and wedding anniversary, all rolled into one.

ZG was, for many of us who have played the game since the start but didn't raid in vanilla, the only realistic chance to see an epic item. It would typically be a Saturday morning in 2006 when alts of people who were in "BWL guilds" got antsy for some action and threw together a run of ZG. Early on, it was pretty hard to coordinate a pug in ZG - keep in mind, you didn't have targets to mark, there was no DBM, no Omen, none of the voice communication tools (people were hesitent to download teamspeak for a pug). So you'd be going in there and the tank would have about 3800 health, arms spec, and maybe get down the first few bosses. But it was awesome because those bosses dropped EPICS. That's right, there was a time when a person in a full set of blues meant something. It meant you had worked hard and diligently farmed instances until your set dropped. But if you sprinkled in 1-2 epics it really made you shine. Much of this has been devalued due to the fact that now you can get an alt a 5400 gear score in about 2 weeks effort, with no guaranatee that you learned anything along the way. So I guess the loss of ZG for me is more of a psychological loss of the game as it was and not so much a practical loss as in "what? I can't run ZG any more?" (since I rarely go back). I like the idea of bringing it back as a 5-man, though, it could be an awesome heroic instance to insert some time mid-expansion.

Well there's 2 more mounts I'll never have unless they manage to drop before Cata comes out. When I was leveling my first toon, how I loooooonged for that Amani Warbear. I had dreams of being an epic raider and getting one. But I got to seventy only a month or two before Wrath was due to be released, not long enough to find a raiding guild, get geared, and then win the roll against 9 other people. I was so upset when they removed it. Hopefully they don't decide to remove the Raven Lord!
Firestyle Sep 1st 2010 11:19AM
I have a raptor, don't have a tiger. I still try to farm it. I am kinda meh about the whole thing. I see so many people with the mounts anyway - they aren't even that rare. I like the raptor, but TBH, I farmed the raven lord and I ride that mostly.
The world is changing in cata, I think a quest hub makes more sense. Would I like to continue to farm this mount? Sure. Am I gonna cry over it, no. We have to be able to live with a certain amount of change to this game or it will become dull and old and lifeless. The blood god has been dead for 5 years -- clearly, this had to be updated.
Sean Sep 1st 2010 11:20AM
No joke, ZG was the last raid I needed for Classic Raider. Let's hope they just remove that requirement and I get the achievement. What is up with people never wanting to do that raid? It can be soloed up until about the last boss.
LB Sep 1st 2010 11:27AM
It's not entirely impossible that ZG will be divided into several 5-mans instead, to better fit with Blizzard's newer version of having dungeons organized, dungeon hubs. He DID say that Zul'Gurub would be gone as a RAID instance after all. There's also the fact that they lowered the levels of Scholomance, Stratholme and Dire Maul. I wouldn't be too surprised if they had something like this planned.
Now, I wonder if they'd take it one step further and divide Vanilla raids into 2 tiers of raiding, tier 1 being AQ20 and MC, and then tier 2 with AQ40 and BWL.
Miz Sep 1st 2010 11:34AM
This is kinda unrelated, but could anyone explain me what could possibly find the poster that wrote in the thread where Valnoth gave the news about ZG "fascinating"? I've been thinking for like the last 10 mins about it and still I can't understand what can possibly be "fascinating" about it. Fascinating is seeing an alien being, or discovering Atlantida, or finding the sollution for world hunger, not having a video game instance closed
So, could anyone enlighten me?

Dammit I've never even DONE ZG!! (Last one I need for Classic Raider...)
LFG retro raid ZG!
Vodkamartini Sep 1st 2010 2:56PM
Sad to read the impending demise of ZG. My server did have groups running ZG here and there and I've seen it drop twice. And I'm glad my No. 1 alt (disc priest) got the tiger on one of those.
I almost didn't go or roll for it since I really wanted to take my then 70-something DK there (I hate the default mount for DKs) but decided I'd help a friend and couple of puggers with the place as heals. After deciding it doesn't drop everyday and winning the thing, I decided "WTH, I'll be like every other douchebag and get my DK the bear mount in Dalaran."
Oh, and no love for the raptor? I wanted that mount for my DK dwarf chick.
